You can redistribute any given skill point at any time.

After the first two quests in the game, you will run into the Forbidden Fruit. It grows on the glowing tree. Each fruit yields one skill point.

The skill tree consists of 4 basic skills: possession of Martyrs, reduces the amount of noise the player makes as a Martyr, increase of the amount of time you can hold your breath and the ability to survive weak attacks. Each of these skills has three levels of development.

It's advisable to learn possessing Martyrs first. At the beginning of the game, it's pretty easy to fall into the hands of demons - if that happens, you shall die, and will have to look for a new body. Possession lest you keep on playing without dying. Another skill you should unlock rather soonish is surviving weak attacks. This allows you to escape demons with some luck.
