This Age of Empires 4 guide page explains how to create groups? We describe how to create, step by step, groups of military units to manage them more easily during battle.
Select your troops and choose your unit type by clicking on one of the icons at the bottom left of the screen.
Place the selected units next to and highlight them. Next, assign the group to a digit from 0 to 9 using the CTRL + digit shortcut.
One by one, create separate groups of military units. The icons of the created troop groups will appear on the left side of the screen. This will allow you to quickly select one by clicking on the icon or pressing the appropriate number on the keyboard.
The groups don't have to consist of one type of troops. You may mix your units as you see like. However, we recommend dividing your troops into groups of a given type.
Grouping the troops provides better unit control during the fight and allows you to give orders instantly to selected groups according to their role. This method works especially well during large battles and fortress conquering.
