Evie and Jacob's level skill trees are different on the top levels making both of them unique.

Jacob and Evie may learn a lot of useful skills which may be learned after spending the skillpoints which may be earned mostly for getting the experience points for completing missions, side tasks and conquering districts. While spending the skillpoints you will also level up what is very important since having a higher level allows you to easier defeat the stronger enemies.

When Evie will get to her full potential she will be quiet as a shadow. - Skills and leveling up | Characters - Characters - Assassins Creed: Syndicate Game Guide & Walkthrough
When Evie will get to her full potential she will be quiet as a shadow.

Remember, that you level up Jacob and Evie separately and they don't share their skills. Because of that you may give them two separate builds. Jacob is more suitable for Combat skills, and Evie for the Stealth skills. The third group, Ecosystem, will affect your surrounding by, for example, increasing the amount of materials contained in chests.

How to start?

Seeing through walls will be a great help for planning your moves. - Skills and leveling up | Characters - Characters - Assassins Creed: Syndicate Game Guide & Walkthrough
Seeing through walls will be a great help for planning your moves.

Both characters will gain a lot from learning the most important early game skills which are:

- Eagle Vision II - An essential ability which allows you to see and highlight your enemies through walls. You should learn this as fast as you can.

- Health Boost I - Even during the first couple hours may save your skin multiple times.

- Loot Takedown - Will save you a huge amount of time since will automatically loot the enemies while being undetected. It will help you gather some money and from time to time some ammunition as well.

Later on you may basically do whatever you want, however it may be better to create two different builds for your heroes. For example take Slayer I for Jacob and Stealth I for Evie since most of the times Jacob will take care of fights. If you want to earn some extra money and materials give one character some Ecosystem skills such as Scavenger I/II).

Combat

Health Boost I - Health bar increases by one segment. It is very significant at the beginning of the game.

Health Boost II - Health bar increases by one segment.

Health Boost III - Health bar increases by one segment.

Adrenaline - Increases the health regeneration outside of battle.

Combat Stamina - Allows you to heal yourself during the battle without using medicine. To do so you need to execute at least two stunned enemies at the same time (they will stand leaning and with almost no health bar left). The amount of received health depends on the amount of executed enemies.

Unstoppable I - Increase time allowed before losing your combo streak.

Unstoppable II - First hit taken during a combo doesn't reset the combo meter.

Execute I - Stun an enemy, then perform a Tool combo for massive damage.

Execute II - Enemies who see you perform an execution stop using the guard stance.

Slayer I - After reaching x10 hits in a combo, your next attack puts the target near-death.

Slayer II - After bringing one enemy near death, following attacks on other targets will do the same to them.

Counter Boost - You have more time to perform a counterattack. Your counterattacks deal more damage.

Mutilate I - Your attacks deal more damage what allows you to stun an enemy faster.

Mutilate II (Jacob only) - Your attacks deal more damage.

Stealth

Lockpicking I - Allows you to open the closed chests.

Lockpicking II - Allows you to open the closed doors what sometimes unlocks a new path to your destination.

Assassin Steps - Take significantly reduced damage from falls and make less noise when moving.

Chameleon (Evie only) - Evie may be almost invisible when she stays in one place while she is in the stealth mode. You may basically stay in the path of an enemy and kill him when he will get closer.

Kidnap - You may kidnap your enemies. This skill will be unlocked automatically.

Intimidation - Kidnapped enemies no longer attempt to escape what makes this type of quests much easier.

Knife Master - Throwing knives stun enemies and are automatically recovered during multi-kills.

Knife Master II (Evie only) - Evie's knives do more damage, and she can carry twice as many.

Loot Takedown - Automatically loot an enemy you've multi-killed, knocked out or assassinated. Definitely makes playing much more pleasant.

Stealth I - Stealth stat increases by 7, making it easier to avoid detection.

Stealth II - Stealth stat increases by 7

Stealth III (Evie only) - Evie's Stealth stat is increased by an extra 11.

Double Assassination - Simultaneous kill two unaware targets.

First Strike I - Attack an enemy before entering combat to inflict significant damage..

First Strike II - The attack described above deals a lot more damage and can kill weak enemies instantly.

Ecosystem

Leadership I - Recruit up to 2 Rooks at a time.

Leadership II - Recruit up to 3 Rooks at a time.

Leadership III - Recruit up to 5 Rooks at a time.

Eagle Vision II - Allows you to see and mark enemies through walls. A very important ability.

Eagle Vision III - Expand vision radius and displays the direction of enemies on the mini-map.

Gunslinger I - Reload automatically when using a gun in a tool combo attack.

Gunslinger II (Jacob only) - All Jacob's countering shots are headshots.

Scavenger I - Increases the amount of common crafting resources in chests.

Scavenger II - Increases the amount of rare crafting resources in chests. Both of Scavenger skills are very beneficial if you plan to play and explore a lot.

Driver I - Your carriage takes less damage. Speed reduction when involved in a crash.

Driver II - Carriages you drive accelerate faster.

Demolition Derby - Carriages you drive inflict more damage and take less damage during crashes.

Defense I - Reduce incoming melee damage.

Defense II - Reduce incoming ranged damage.

Defense III (Jacob only) - Reduces incoming damage of every type.
