Place of encountering the herbalist
Finding the herbalist is one of the tasks of chapter 3 - A Burden of Blood. The heroes have to go through a village filled with rats. In the final phase, a herbalist will appear along with 2 guards. You can observe him, for example, by hiding in nearby bushes.
Can the herbalist be saved?
The herbalist must die - this is part of the plot. This will happen if:
- you kill or drag away the soldier standing next to him - the herbalist will not be protected by the torch;
- you will not do anything - the guard will kill the herbalist after a short conversation.
The herbalist's death will not fail the mission. The heroes will reach his shack and search it anyway.
You can, however, "cheat" and try to keep the herbalist alive.
As soon as you reach the last part of the village, run toward the gate to complete the first activity before the herbalist and guards move away too far. Use Ignifer to light a torch next to the gate - the 3 NPCs will have a new light source.
Get noticed by the soldiers and kill them:
- kill the soldier without headgear by using the sling;
- kill the opponent with the headgear by extinguishing his torch after he approaches you - he will be devoured by rats.
You can approach the herbalist by throwing 1 or 2 pots of Ignifer to temporarily ward off rats.
Unfortunately, even if you approach the herbalist, you won't be able to talk to him (the example in the picture shows that you can interact with the gate - this is a bug). The chapter will not change in any way. You will still have to take a side path to the herbalist's hut and search it.
