Playing A Plague Tale: Innocence, you will have the opportunity to improve your inventory. This will increase the number of items you can carry and will affect the movement speed and combat efficience of Amicia. Therefore, regular investment in improvements is very important.

You have access to all modifications from the workbench. You will find them at each stage of the game (except the first one). After you improve the belt, however, you will be able to access modifications at any time.

When you get to the menu of improvements, you will find a list of available improvements. They are divided into three categories: Slingshots [1], Equipment [2], Alchemy [3].

To improve, you will need tools. At each table, you will find one set of them, which means you can only make one modification there. Of course, you can find more during exploration. If you invest in the third level of belt improvement, you will also be able to create them yourself.
