Employer: Vittori [South Quarter / Riverside - The Siren's Rest]
Availability: You get the opportunity to take this mission after you have completed the fourth Chapter of the campaign mode. Apart from that, you also need to have completed the Happy Medium mission.
Return to The Siren's Rest tavern [South Quarter / Riverside - The Siren's Rest] and meet up with Vittori again. The man wants you task you with an assignment which is now connected with the Octopuss. It is worth accepting this mission but, I recommend against starting it, if you do not have, on you, ant Rope Arrows and if you have not yet bought the Wirecutter, because it will be difficult, or impossible to collect all the loot at the collector's apartment.
Your current destination is the collector's apartment and it is located in the Northern part of the South Quarter [South Quarter / Riverside - Glimmer Lane], close to the passage to the Stonemarket. Start to the West of your destination and find the squat's entrance shown in the above screenshot [South Quarter / Riverside - Eelbiters Squat], which is also connected with the Poor Protection tasked to you by Basso. Walk through the squat and watch out for the trap inside (unless you have already disarmed it) and take the Eastern window.
Garrett should now be on an external balcony, neighboring the squat. Turn to the South-East, walk over the narrow wooden beam and climb onto the ledge on the left. Turn to the North now and jump towards the rope there. Climb up the rope, thanks to which you will access the top balcony. You can now force the window open and enter the collector's squat [South Quarter / Riverside - Baron's Way Side Street], which officially starts this mission.
Before you do anything, I recommend that you learn the map of this area, which you can find at the top of this page. You start in an abandoned building to the West of the destination. I recommend against taking the building's bottom exit, because it is being observed by a guard standing in the nearby yard. It is much better and option to get through the window located to the North of the starting point. When it comes to the abovementioned opponent, just like usually, I recommend that you distract him with a throwable and sneak past him. You can also try to rob him of his Coin Purse - 15G.
You can access the collector's squat [South Quarter / Riverside - Collector's Lodge] in three different ways. Variant one assumes that you take the main door on the ground floor, i.e. the one neighboring the yard. I DEFINITELY, recommend against going for this variant, because the area is well-lit and you would, additionally, have to use lockpicks, which increases the risk of being spotted by the guard.
The second variant, in my opinion, is definitely the most interesting one, although it requires you to lose one of your rope arrows. The interactive catch is above the yard with the guard, which has been described above, in the spot shown in the above screenshot. Using the rope will allow Garret to reach the window on the first floor (directly above the main entrance) and walk into the bathroom, which is not guarded.
The last variant assumes that you take a side alley, along the estate. After you take this alley, locate a Wine Glass - 3G and use the claw to make your way into the nearby rooftop. You could now walk over the wooden plank and reach the window at the first floor (it is located right above the building's back door).
I recommend that you explore both of the floors in the building, where you need to remember that also the collector, who cannot spot you, will be staying there. Apart from that, in one of the rooms at the ground floor, there is a single guard and since he should not be moving away, you can distract him by closing/opening the door, turning off the lights or by using throwables. Note - the guard has a Coin Purse - 17G at his belt, which it is worthwhile to try stealing.
There are many valuable and useful items in the collector's apartment. At the ground floor, you can find a Letter Opener - 3G, a Brooch - 7G, a Pocket Portrait - 2x4G, two Wine Glasses - 4+10G, a testament (Vittori Client Jobs - Father's Testament), a Chess Piece - 10G, two Candlesticks - 6+15G and a painting (The Court of Montonessi - What is There Cannot be Seen), which you can remove with the Razor. At the upper floor, there are two Wine Glasses - 2x3G, a Pocket Portrait - 4G, a diary (Vittori Client Jobs - Manservant's Diary) and Earrings - 25G.
Now you need to go to the garden at the back of the estate [South Quarter / Riverside - Collector's Garden]. I strongly recommend against taking the back door at the ground floor, because Garret would, otherwise, be spotted easily. It is much better to return to the eastern window on the first floor and, after you get to the plank above, plan carefully on the next steps to take. In the garden, by default, there are two guards, but one of them should go to the cellar, after they finish their conversation. It would be a good idea to distract the other opponent, e.g. with a throwable, and steal the two Coin Purse - 15+2G attached to his belt.
Sooner or later, you will have to approach the stairs to the cellar [South Quarter / Riverside - Wine Cellar], which is located in the Northern part of the garden. It is in the cellar that the other one of the guards, so you need to be careful. This is not the only handicap, in connection with this area, because occasionally, there may appear the collector in the basement. To your aid, keep turning off the lights and distracting the other characters with throwables.
In the basement, there are a Candlestick - 6G and a Wine Glass - 10G. The most important, however, is the painting shown in the above screenshot, which you need to examine and press the two interactive switches. This will reveal a safe and, to determine the combination, you should help yourself with the testament that you found at the estate's ground floor. By applying a simple mathematical formula (838-26), you can arrive at the safe combination, which is 812.
You can now enter the secret vault [South Quarter / Riverside - Collector's Vault]. The Octopuss (Client Loot - The Octopuss) is inside one of the cupboards on the right. Apart from that, you can find here two Candlesticks - 6+15G, a Letter Opener - 3G, three Brooches - 7+7+25G, two pairs of Earrings - 12+25G and two Vases - 25+10G. This is not all because, after you press the plate on one of the walls, you will additionally unlock the lower stash with two items -a Vase - 25G and a collectible (Whiteridge's Duty - The Virtuous Lady).
You now need to leave this location. First of all, you should remember about the guards in the cellar [South Quarter / Riverside - Wine Cellar] and in the garden [South Quarter / Riverside - Collector's Garden], and use throwables again, to your aid. After you return to the South Quarter go again to The Siren's Rest tavern [South Quarter / Riverside - The Siren's Rest]. Give Vittori the artifact, which will end this assignment.
This is the list of the most important items that you can find while completing this side mission for Vittori:
- 3 unique Collectibles
- 27 standard loot
If you want to replay this mission, you can click on Play Again, still while in the mission summary screen. If you want to return to this mission later in the game, (e.g. after you have unlocked new gadgets), you need to reach the building adjacent to the collector's place, in South Quarter, again.
