Q4.104. Small Problems
What kind of sick game design admin decides to have minature people and a quest where you have to find a cat harness because a waring tribe of other minature people stole it and they both need it to ride a cat and then doesn't show the minature guys riding the cat after you make with the harness at the end of the quest? I would have loved to have been in that meeting where the designers met and said we have created a side quest where minature people ride cats and the player has to find the harness as a quest but we aren't sure if we should actually show them riding cats at the end of the quest. What do you all think? Should we take a vote? All in favor of showing the minature people riding cats to the gamers who paid $50 for this game and waded through this quest just to see the cats as horses footage raise your hands. All opposed? The opposed's have it. Screw the customer. My girlfriend has been tolerating me playing this game and turning a blind eye to the ridiculous sexual situations geralt gets in to and the fact that the game has created score cards so you can keep track of all the girls you nailed but even she got mildly interested in the cat harness quest and couldn't wait to see that crazy merd and then nothing... this makes me weep for the future of rpg gaming. Must we all play online and pay each month? Must we suffer through bad dialog and poorly written scripts? Must we bow when told gaming is too technical to allow simple folk who just want a decent plot to create their own games? AS LONG AS GEEKS ARE IN CONTROL OF THE GAMING INDUSTRY MINATURE PEOPLE WILL NEVER RIDE CATS LIKE HORSES. NOR WILL GAMES EVER BE CREATIVE.

Concerning the Basilisk contract:
My first time through, I had the exact same problem. 2 basilisks down, but no more would respawn... This happened relatively late in Chapter IV (Lakeside). I was saving the contract for one of the last things I did... I finished the game with that quest failed. sadness.

After reading a few game guides, I learned it was really beneficial to kill tough monsters while your level is lower... so the next time i played, I went straight to Black Tern Island first thing in chapter IV. I found and killed 4. Meditated 24 hrs, killed 3 more. Meditated 24 hrs, killed 3 more. Meditated 24 hrs and couldn't find any more! I leveled up with roughly 1,500XP per Basilisk and wanted to kill more, but alas, the game wouldn't provide.

So, to answer your question, the game seems to stop respawning Basilisks after
a) you kill about 10
b) you've finished a quest or two in Chapter IV.

advice: as soon as you get to Chapter IV, go straight to Black Tern Island and kill, kill, kill!

Strange, are you sure you ewent all the way down the left side of the island where they appear, I had them respawn several times just by walking to the other end of the island and right back. Originaly there should be 4, so if you only killed two, they won't respawn until you kill the other 2.

Had a problem with the Basilisk contract, seems there were only 2 on Black Tern Island and they never respawned, even after I spent days of waiting at each time interval at a nearby fireplace on the island. Unable to complete it.

Indeed, plus all the loot and experience you get killing the various monsters in the crypt, plus the big payoff (800 oren) and experience for killing the king of the crypt (take his head to the village chief).

I tried the alcohol routine. However, I believe that you earn considerably more experience going through the full routine with Abigail and the cat harness.

Q4.104. Small Problems can be finished quite easy. You can sacrifice a bottle of strong alchohol instead of the cat harness and you will get the four-leaf clover. Just a talk with the Mason, then Abigail/Healer. Then go back to the statue near the mason and sacrifice the alchohol.
