In this chapter you will find full walkthrough of Chapter Three – The Conspiracy (The Palace of Bishop Waleran Bigod; the cave; The Castle of Earl Bartholomew, Shiring):
Ask bishop Waleran for support
Playing as Philip, after getting in front of the bishop's palace enter the courtyard (to the left). Take several apples from the barrel standing to the right of the stairs leading to the building in the middle. From the stables (deep on the left) take some hay. Take the high stairs to the central building and knock at the door. Talk to the servant (you can provide him with the real reason for your visit or keep it a secret). While waiting for the servant to inform the bishop about Philip's visit, feed the apples and hay to your pony on the right (achievement Help an old friend).
After a moment, Philip will face the bishop. Talk to him - you can either conceal or reveal Francis's involvement in the case. After the visit is finished, mount your pony.
Find Martha and head out
When Tom wanders off to find his daughter, playing as Jack return to the cave (to the left). In the dark corner to the left, you will find Martha crying - talk to her.
Try to calm her down, e.g. with a promise that you will teach her how to shoot the slingshot. Finally, give her the straw doll of Charles the Great (if you did not take it from the stone castle to the right of the cave, do it before talking to Martha).
When both families set off and reach the wide highroad, use the map you are already familiar with to indicate consecutive stages of the journey. At some point you will have to decide whether to go to bishop's palace (as Tom wants) or to the city (preferred by Ellen). No matter which decision you make you end up in Earlcastle.
Before you follow Tom, talk to Alfred - you will learn that, in his opinion, his father does not care about him at all (this is possible only if you were nice to Alfred before). Use this clue on Ellen and Martha. Show the girl how the slingshot works (do it three Times; first two minigames are different, while the third one is the same as the second, however the circle moves much faster – required to unlock the achievement). Then, go to the other side of the courtyard (towards the bottom of the screen, and then turn left).
Talk to the knights standing in front of the tower - they will ask you to bring them some food from the tower. Go inside the tower through the wide open door. You will see how Tom is dismissed empty-handed. Before you follow him, look around the tower.
Talk to the man with the broom (Matthew) and persist you want to see the lady - you will learn she is fed up with male visitors for today. Listen to the conversation between the Earl and his son (you have to click on him several times). Notice the burnt letter lying next to the chair by the table - pick it up and investigate it (new item added to the ‘Documents’ tab). ). (If you want to unlock the Rebel without a cause, shoot the Earl of Shiring with your slingshot). Finally, steal some fried chicken thigh lying in the bowl on the right edge of the table (a traditional minigame) and leave for the courtyard. In case you are thrown out of the tower before you complete all that, simply return to the top of the tower and continue.
Give the chicken thigh to the knights standing in front of the tower (achievement Wannabe knight) - you will learn that it was a joke and the chicken thigh will stay in boy's inventory. Approach Tom, who is lying to the left of the tower and talk to him about his troubles. Tell him what Alfred thinks about his father's treatment (provided you have this clue).
Help Tom find a job
When Tom tells you to do so, climb the wall by taking the stairs to the left of the tower. Talk to the red-haired knight standing there. Initially, the man will test Jack – he asks the boy to try the staring competition. Do not do anything and do not say anything. Wait until the bar surrounding the circle with the dialogue options disappears completely (Staring contest champion achievement). Then, touch the subject of the battle – you will learn something from the knight on this topic when he finds out Jack can button his lips. Thus, when asked about keeping a secret answer with a stare or – when the knight tells the boy about the color of his feces and then asks about it do not answer, just stare at him.
Of course, you should ask whether they require a mason to reinforce the walls. Finally, use the clue regarding Tom’s job on the top of the walls.
Continue along the walls (to the left), and when you descend the wall approach Tom, who is standing on the left. Use the clue regarding the top of the walls on him.
Then, use the clue regarding Tom’s job on the damaged wall to the right of the entrance to the tower and use the clue about the damaged wall on Tom.
Since you need one more argument to convince the Earl to hire a mason, go to the opposite side of the courtyard (to the right) and return to the well, next to which Ellen, Alfred, and Martha are waiting. Give Alfred the chicken thigh (if Jack was nice to him – more details on that in the previous chapter – you will get the Friends of sorts achievement). Then, use the clue regarding Tom’s job on the well – you will learn that the cribwork needs to be repaired. Afterwards, use the clue about the princess on Martha, and after a while you will both find yourselves in Aliena’s chamber. Talk to her and ask about the details of the battle (you can admit to your origin or not – required for unlocking the achievement).
After you leave the tower, go again to the other side of the courtyard (bottom left part of the screen). Use the clues regarding the cribwork and the information from princess about the attack on Tom. This will be enough for him to get a job.
If through all this time Jack has been mean to Alfred and did not give him the chicken leg, by the end of this chapter you will get the Lone wolf achievement.
