There are A LOT of different achievements waiting for you to collect during the game. They have been transfered from the X360 version of TDU. Collecting these achievements will allow you to upgrade your main character to higher levels of experience. Each time this happens, you will also receive several other bonuses. This usually means that new features of the game (like Photo Editor or Luxury Paintshops) become fully unlocked. You will also be able to proceed with new types of races. Heres a full list of the experience levels:
Rookie 0-30 (this is where youll start)
Amateur 30-90
Pro 90-180
Expert 180-450
Champion 450-1000
You can always check exactly how much points youve already gathered. You can do this by going to one of your houses. You will have to click on Info and Game Progress. Ive prepared a full list of unlockable achievements. Make sure that you take a closer look at it, especially if you want to upgrade your character rather quickly. Heres how its displayed:

Single Player Vic. Level 1 -> 20 -> you will have to win at least 5 races
Single Player Vic. Level 2 -> 20 -> you will have to win at least 10 races

Single Player Vic. Level 4 -> 30 -> you will have to win at least 40 races
Single Player Vic. Level 5 -> 40 -> you will have to win at least 60 races

Successful Missions Level 1 -> 15 -> you will have to finish at least 3 additional challenges

Successful Missions Level 4 -> 60 -> you will have to finish all available challenges (100)
Single Player Time Challenges -> 15 -> you will have to win 44 TIME group races
Single Player Race Challenges -> 20 -> you will have to win 50 RACE group races
Single Player Speed Challenges -> 10 -> you will have to win 26 SPEED group races
Island Tour -> 30 -> you will have to win Tour of the Island race
GROUP MULTIPL. CHAL.
Multiplayer Vic. Level 1 -> 10 -> you will have to win at least 3 multiplayer races (RANKED MATCHES only!)
Multiplayer Vic. Level 2 -> 20 -> you will have to win at least 15 multiplayer races (RANKED MATCHES only!)
Multiplayer Vic. Level 3 -> 30 -> you will have to win at least 30 multiplayer races (RANKED MATCHES only!)
Instant Challenge Victories -> 10 -> you will have to win at least 5 Instant Multiplayer Challenges
Custom Challenge Victories -> 10 -> you will have to win at least 2 Custom Races (chosen from the drive-in menu)
Club Race Victories -> 10 -> you will have to win at least 3 inter-club races
GROUP PURCHASES
Small Collector -> 15 -> you will have to purchase at least 2 cars
Amateur Collector -> 20 -> you will have to purchase at least 4 cars
Confirmed Collector -> 25 -> you will have to purchase at least 10 cars
Most Varied Collector -> 30 -> you will have to purchase at least 20 cars
Extreme Collector -> 30 -> you will have to purchase at least 50 cars
Bike Collector -> 10 -> you will have to purchase at least 3 motorcycles
Ferrari Collector -> 20 -> you will have to buy at least 3 Ferrari vehicles
Lamborghini Collector -> 20 -> you will have to buy at least 3 Lamborghini vehicles
Mercedes-Benz Collector -> 15 -> you will have to buy at least 3 Mercedes-Benz vehicles

Easygoing Tourist -> 10 -> you will have to cover least 30 miles (48 kilometres)
Steadfast Tourist -> 25 -> you will have to cover least 200 miles (320 kilometres)
Traveller -> 30 -> you will have to cover least 400 miles (640 kilometres)
Seasoned Traveller -> 35 -> you will have to cover least 1000 miles (160 kilometres)
Eagle-Eyed Driver -> 40 -> you will have to cover least 5000 miles (8000 kilometres)
Explorer -> 40 -> you will have to cover all roads on the island (they are being highlighted on the main map of the area)
GROUP MISCELLANEOUS
Tuner -> 10 -> you will have to buy at least one performance pack for your vehicle
Sharing Custom Challenges -> 10 -> you will have to share at least three Custom Challenges in the drive-in
Club Member -> 10 -> you will have to create a racing club or join an existing one
Trade -> 10 -> you will have to sell or buy a car from other active player
