Search the cave to find some useful resources here. In one of the chests that you open with the hatchet (tap the X button quickly) you will find the first semi-auto pistol part. After you find all of the parts of a given weapon, you can assemble it in the camp, later on.

Finally, find the weakened fragment of the brick wall and smash it with the hatchet to progress towards the ice grotto.
