The books that you find may hint you to valuable hidden treasures

The actual game of Risen 3 starts at the moment at which you lose your soul, which is an unenviable fate. Thanks to the hints, you will quickly find your way in the new situation.

  • In Risen 3, there is nothing like one correct order of visiting isles. You can travel freely around and return to the places that you have already visited, many times. It is even recommended that you do that. The list of all the available locations can be found on the World Map page.
  • In the game, the difficulty level of opponents is not scaled. If, at a given moment, you encounter someone that you cannot deal with, you will definitely be able to handle them later on. Apart from that, for defeating an opponent, you always receive the same amount of glory points (e.g. 400 points for a golem).
  • Opponents do not respawn. Still, it is worth knowing that some of the monsters may respawn, after you progress to a later part of the game. In such a situation, you can return to the locations that you have already explored and obtain new experience points the easy way.
  • Always travel with a companion around. Especially at the beginning of the game, the help of a companion, in battle, may prove invaluable. The most useful ones, in the field, are Bones (he heals your character) and Jaffar (collects the items dropped by enemies, for you; you can later on sell these items).
  • At the first opportunity, buy a lockpick (e.g. from Wilson in the Calador bay, or from Flynn on Antigua), thanks to which you will be able to get to the valuables locked in chests.
  • Talk to each NPC that you encounter - the majority of them will have some quests for you to perform. To the quests themselves, you can return later into the game - thanks to the journal, you can mark each quest on your map.
  • Read all of the books that you find in buildings - some of them add entries about the hidden legendary items, or other legendary items, to your journal, thanks to which it is going to be easier to find them and, as a result, get richer and/or obtain additional glory points.
  • Do not sell any magical crystals, jades nor tomes of ancient knowledge, up to the moment, at which you decide which faction to join. The above resources are used as a form of payment for learning spells and/or special abilities, which re faction-specific. These cannot be bought for gold. At the same time, it is worth knowing that the more general skills are not restricted to any faction in particular. You can become a master of lockpicking or melee combat, regardless of who you joined.
  • After you have bought your way into any of the groups, you can join them, without bothering about the fact that you may lose access to quests of the rest of the groups. You will only be denied access to some part of exclusive quests, which become available only after you join a specific faction. You can start general quests at any point in the game, regardless of your status.
  • Talk to the crew of your ship on a regular basis - thanks to this, you will gain access to new quests, items or gold.
  • The action of seizing a ship, in itself, means joining one of the factions (and before you earn it, you will be able to join 3 companions, to your crew only). It is a good idea to learn about all of the factions, before you join any.
  • In the game, there are no requirements, as concerns the weapon that you can wield. For this reason, everything that you find, you can try in combat immediately.
  • It is a good idea to learn some knowledge of smithing or gunsmithing, if you have decided on either melee or ranged combat. Thanks to these skills, you will be able to upgrade some of the weapons that you find.
