This quest is part of: Chaka Datu's Legacy

In order to prove your worth to the Maracai and become halmak, you need to demonstrate your courage, wisdom and physical prowess. Nevertheless, you can't perform it alone - a halmak is a kind of a representative, a bondsman. To become halmak, you need to seek protection from one of two pretenders to the throne. Interestingly, the choice of this patron is determined by the faction you've sided with on the Sword Coast.

If you're an ally to the Natives, talk to Zaalu [#2], who can be found next to the fanatical prophet. Convince him to your virtues, and then eliminate your greatest opponent - Potaka [#3]. There are two ways to do it - by intimidating him (which ends the quest immediately and requires Intimidate at 70), or by dueling with him (see: Follow Potaka to the Ritual Site and Get Rid of Potaka). When the problem is solved, talk to Zaalu, and then to Datu - now you're free to continue the Chaka Datu's Legacy quest, ending the present quest at the same time.

If you're an ally to the Inquisition, talk to Hakeke [#4], who is standing right by the village entrance. The warrior is fascinated by guns, which is why he'll be very interested in your help. Before you become his halmak, though, you need to defeat his current representative - Daiki [#5]. Same as with Potaka, you need to follow him to the arena [#6] and defeat him (see: Follow Daiki to the Ritual Site), or use Intimidate of 70 on him. Once you declare your victory in front of Hakeke and Datu, the quest ends and you're free to move on.

Note! If you want to resolve this quickly, intimidate Potaka or Daiki - this ends the quest right away. Keep in mind, though, that this way you won't get the quests Follow Potaka to the Ritual Site, Get Rid of Potaka (or Follow Daiki to the Ritual Site, Get Rid of Daiki).

Rewards:

  • 200 Glory points for completing the quest;
  • 100 Glory points for defeating Potaka (only during Get Rid of Potaka!);
  • 100 Glory points for defeating Daiki (only during Get Rid of Daiki!).
