The landing in PUBG PUBG Guide and Tips

Last update: 19 August 2019

The initial phase is what distinguishes Playerunkown's Battlegrounds from other games. You not only have to decide when to jump out of the plane but you also reach a random location on the map before the match begins. The following section contains information regarding landing and the beginning of a match in PUBG.

The initial phase in Playerunkown's Battlegrounds is rather unusual - you and other players reach and island. This stage serves as a warm-up - for a few tens of seconds, you are able to move freely around the island. You won't find any weapons, but you can get acquainted with the terrain and conditions on the map.

As soon as you run out of time, you and all the other players will end up in a plane heading for the island - use 'M' button to check the map. As soon as you pass solid ground, information that you can jump out of the plane will be displayed. Think carefully before you do so, as this decision will greatly determine your chance of winning. Keep in mind that:

1. By jumping early, you can reach the ground faster than other players. The main drawback is that many people will do the same and you will have to face them right away. However, there is a main advantage of such an attempt - its way easier to find a vehicle.

2. By jumping later, you will start a less intensive gameplay. On the other hand, it's highly possible that you will come across well-equipped players, whom left the plane earlier. Most vehicles in the area will be 'dismantled'.

3. You can jump out of the plane and nosedive by adjusting the camera as much as you can towards the ground. Your speed will increase and you will reach the ground faster.

4. You can also set the camera 'up' to decrease your speed. This way, you can travel for one kilometer before you actually reach the ground. Use this trick to get to places that you wouldn't be able to reach by plane - you should not come across enemies in such areas too often.

5. Pay attention to the bar at the bottom of the screen. It determines (apart from the speed at which you fall) your height and the place where the parachute will open automatically (white part of the bar). Remember that the height at which the parachute will open depends on the landform - if you are flying over mountains, it will open faster. This can lead to a situation in which you will struggle for several minutes to walk down a steep hill. Thus, it is crucial that you pay attention to the landing area.

Remember: during each gameplay, the plane will fly over the island from a different direction. Thus, you need to be ready to find a new landing area. It's wise to pick several 'good' locations and try to reach one of them. Details concerning interesting areas on the map were included in chapter 'Map' of the game guide.
