Chapter 14 - Stairway to Heaven - p. 4 Mafia II Guide

You'll have to be VERY careful while using the stairs, because you'll be surprised by two enemies along the way #1. Each time you've encountered a gangster you'll have to react quickly to avoid being killed. Make sure to check the area to your left after using the stairs, because you'll find a Playboy magazine on the ground #2.

Climb on top of a wooden table #1, so that you'll be allowed to get past the flaming passageway. Check the second screenshot #2 to find out where you need to hide. DON'T move to your right just yet, because you would find yourself under heavy fire. Wait for enemies to show up directly behind you and kill them from here.

Make sure that there are no gangsters in the vicinity and then run to your right to take cover behind a small brick wall #1. You should be able to eliminate the rest of enemy units from here, especially since most of the gangsters will be focused on attacking Joe. The last group on this floor is stationed to your right #2. You won't have to think too much how to kill them, so you should worry only about scoring precise hits.

Make sure to look around after the battle. There's a large stash of grenades near one of the active lamps #1 and they may come in handy in the near future. You'll also find a new Playboy magazine on this floor #2.

Proceed towards the stairs #1. Thankfully you won't be surprised by anyone while trying to get to the lower floor. Take cover behind one of the pillars located far away from the balustrade when you get there #2. You should notice enemies on the second balcony and it'll be up to you to get rid of them.

Once you've secured the balcony you will be allowed to approach the balustrade. Start attacking enemies seen below your current position #1. Naturally throwing grenades at them would be a good idea. Don't forget to check your radar often, because some of the gangsters may want to surprise you and use the stairs to get here #2.

You can't eliminate all enemy units from the balcony section, so sooner or later you'll have to get down to the ground floor. Use pillars for cover here #1. Wait until Joe shows up and approach one of the exits to leave the building #2.

DRIVING JOE TO EL GRECO:

Joe is badly hurt and he needs a doctor, so you'll have to drive him to El Greco (you've already been there during the fifth chapter of the game). Start off by acquiring a car and obviously you can throw out one of the drivers from vehicle passing by #1 or steal a parked machine. Wait until Joe joins you and start driving north. Turn right and enter the driveway leading to El Greco's estate when you get there #2. You should know that you may need to drive through the gate if it's closed.

PAYING OFF THE DEBT:

Watch a cut-scene showing a conversation with El Greco, go back to your vehicle and start diving to Bruno's hideout located in the southern part of Empire Bay. Once again, you'll have to park the car near a dark alley #1. Go there, find the door leading to Bruno's office and knock on the door #2. You'll watch one more cut-scene and then this chapter will end.
