Types of equipment

The equipment in the game is not very complex when it comes to various categories but the developers created many types of equipment. The most important are, obviously, range weapons and armors but you should also pay attention to potions and ammo.

The equipment has no restrictions when it comes to Aloy's stats. You can use everything that you find.

There are three types of item rarities: uncommon (green), rare (blue) and very rare (purple). Most of the rare weapons can be obtained only after meeting some requirements, usually completing a quest. The access to armor parts is different: you can buy them from any merchant but the transaction requires rare materials that you can get from strong machines which is the biggest obstacle.

Modifications for your armor and weapons are important. You can find them in various place but you must remember that they have the same color classification as the elements of equipment mentioned above. The rarer modification the higher percentage it offers. You should keep in mind that particular modifications can only be used with certain types of equipment and once you use a modification you can't use it again. This can be changed by having the Tinker skill but you shouldn't invest your points in it during your first hours with the game.

Crafting

Crafting is one of the most important things in the game. Potions and equipment modifications can be done in game's main menu but the ammo can be crafted in real-time by using the special menu.

You must remember that each ammo type can be crafted only when Aloy gets a weapon that can use it. This is one of the reasons why you should keep fully upgrading your gear. You can only have four weapons with you and thanks to the uniqueness of the equipment you can use up to three types of ammo for each weapon.

Another important thing to do is to increase the capacity of each of the containers for the equipment. Pouches for materials are the priority but having a lot of ammo and potions is also important. In order to get them you must use a lot of rare materials that you can only get by hunting wild animals. Don't miss any opportunity to get a bit of meat and hides.
