Wizard chess  (15/28)

OK, I admit in terms of chess I’m a newbie. That’s why I have no idea what I should write here. Google seems to be the best idea – because where, if not there? There’re only 3 opponents and you ought to play them in proper order (meaning the next two won’t want to play you until you beat the first one). Look for them...

Gods, haven't you ever been taught to play chess?..))
If that's going to tell you anything, the Ravenclaw player has a rating of about 800 (on Easy, it grows with the difficulty setting). The first two guys let their pieces loose too often; the third one might take some time to beat (I'm going to challenge in on Hard).

i've mastered rules and tricks of chess playing! i've beaten all three chess players after 1 trial (gryffindor - common room), 4 trials (slytherin - great hall) and 5 trials (rawenclaw - library).

Rules are simple:

LEGEND: | - one step forward, || - two steps forward, \ - one step to the left, / - one step to the right, L - forward, backward and asides throughout the whole chessboard, V - to the left and right across the whole chessboard, * - in every way (forward, backward, left, right and across).

PAWNS can move | and || (handy when organising a blockade) and strike down \ and /. cannot move backward.
ROOKS can move and strike down L along the chessboard. do not loose them because they are handy when attacking the opponent's king. can move backward.
KNIGHTS can move \ and / BUT if it stands on a white square, it can move and strike down onto black squares only. it cannot be blocked because it can jump over the opponent and your own figures, so use them to strike down rooks, pawns and bishops but remember to protect it. can move backward.
BISHOPS can move and strike down V across the chessboard. useful to create a blockade, preferably to block oponent's queen. can move backward.
QUEEN can move and strike down *. use her often to beat al kinds of opponent's figures but protect it very strongly and use it to strike down opponen's queen if you did not manage to strike her down earlier with other figures. remember: when attacing opponent's queen be aware that she can move just like your queen so do not make mistake and do not let opponent's queen to take you downcan move backward.
KING can move in a shape of a square around itself, if NOT BLOCKED by your own figures. do not block it entirely because it will be difficult for u to escape when a bigger opponent's unit will try to attack it. because it cannot move too wide, the king is not very usefull to strike down your opponents. can move backward.

To win you have to beat a king of your opponent. to avoid loosing you have to protect your own king.

the most important thing i've learned is that you need to try block the queen of your opponent with pawns and one bishop, and win the match with knights and your queen (knights i used to strike out the rooks and bishops of my opponent and also i used my queen to take down opponent's queen).

and remember:

01. ALWAYS WATCH YOUR BACK AND KEEP ALL YOUR FIGURES SAFE!
02. at the beggining of a match try to unlock your rooks and bishops by arranging traps from pawns in the middle of a chessboard AND try to move your knights in a way to strike down both rooks.
03. move your figures out of the way of stronger opponent, otherwise you will loose them.
04. do tempt your opponent to strike down your figure ONLY WHEN YOUR OTHER FIGURE CAN HIT IT BACK.
05. it is better to push figures in a meaningless way and loose a move, because BAD move is like K.O. and you have to start again.
06. the only way you can let your queen to be beaten by opponent is when you firstly strike his queen down AND YOU STILL HAVE AT LEAST ONE ROOK.
07. you can easily beat your opponent's rooks and other figures by knights, because knights are the only figures which can beat while "blocken" by other figures (meaning: THE KNIGHTS CAN'T BE BLOCKED!).
08. king is the most weak figure on the chessboard becase his moves are short runs and HE CANNOT BEATS OPPONENT'S QUEEN.

I hope those informations will make your winning easier.
Goodluck!

The best way I've found to beat them all is to go online and find a chess game and play as black on it. then watch the computer's move and mimic it on the game. Then, when the game moves, use that move on the computer. continue in this fashon and you should win. Just make sure that your playing against the computer on the hardest level.

i've never played chess before, and i can't beat 3rd player in the library... she always won, no matter what i do.
i think that beating her at chess will give me 100% diciveries in library (now i have only 44%).
do i have to be master at chess to beat her??
that is not fair - to end the game properly i would have to learn chess rules (which will take me a month probably)...
can anyone help me here??
