Heroes’ Audience
The Ruined statues in this isolated outpost are thought to be remnants of one of the many failed civilizations the Crystal Desert has claimed. When traders first crossed the desert and established themselves amidst these fallen gods, they told one another campfire stories of how these stone figures once lived and granted favors and magics to heroes lost in these harsh lands. hence the name, Heroes’ Audience.

| i cant het misplaced sword quest for some reason. anyone know why? | ramdom w/mo 15/02/2007 15:24 | | the fixed it because all of the damn bot runners who are lazy, but the thing that bugs me is that farming isn't an exploit running a bot is. now any other mmorpg wouldn't make it damn near impossible to farm they would try to research the accounts more to ban the ones that are not actually playing the game. Ultima Online has done it for years they didn't remove mining or fishing because it was causing a problem they started banning script runners. stupid @#%!$%! !$%!$% idiots | Major Nightmare 24/01/2007 02:08 | | Should be Bleached Carapaces: Leather Vest (Energy +5, Armor: 70) not 5 Minotaur Horns: Leather Gloves (Armor: 70) plz update! or maybe different ppl got different one? | 03 Entrance to Heroes’ Audience 21/01/2007 11:21 | | This 1st section is to C'mon [comment #4]
I didn't know what you meant by monks that were (as you hinted) soloing prophets path I never thought or believed in a million years that a monk could solo an area with creatures that tuff. I thought when I 1st read your comment that was just some little random thing you said but it got me thinking "what did you mean by that?" You see I have played a mesmer, warrior and a ranger and they have all been acsended so I had tried pretty much most of the skills in all the classes but I could only get my warrior a tuff enough build to solo some of these tuffer areas (where there are better drops). So I couldn't figure out what you meant, monks heading out the west exit of augury rock to solo (other than the obvious)?
Well needless to say your small comment on that lead me to search through and ask some other players about how a monk could solo an area like Prophet's Path. I have heard some stuff about solo monks before but I didn't really worry about it too much, kinda didn't think it was really possible.
Well these players explained some basic searches that would lead me to a great website that could explain how to build a 55 monk or a invinci monk and I just wanted to thank you for your small comment, after learning about this I built a monk for my 4th character immediately did all req. pre-searing quests then did the main quest to get to the main part of the game. I had her run to droks straight off, did a few quests to get cities of ascalon Symon the Scribe's 2nd to get -50hp item. Anyway took me about 10 hours to max her out and make my 55hp monk. Now I have learned to solo almost all the areas in the entire crystal desert and the ANet team is going to have to make more than a few nerfs to stop all the places I can farm with that build. That's why I'm gettin while the getting is good (before they nerf it all), now I'm making around 10-15k an hour instead of 4-6k.
So thank you!!!!! Since I built my invici monk I've made 150k and counting. I guess you are definately right about being anti-social, it doesn't pay to not speak to other players about how to do better soloing builds to make money faster and to find out what areas you can still solo after the weekly updates. Look if I had just asked someone earlier about this Monk soloing mumbo jumbo then I wouldn't have even posted the 1st comment because I would've just gone to another spot in the crystal desert and solo farmed there instead of complain.
This section is to Comment #5 thnx for your remarks I think I was just being a little too harsh that day because I didn't know of any other builds to solo around the crystal desert. Part of the reason I wasn't looking into this Solo Monk thing was that I remember awhile back someone said that they made an update that made the solo monk build get nerfed or something. So that's why I was bashing so hard on the ANet team for that monk nerf (however I'm not sure what is because the build works great for me) and making what I thought was the only place that I knew how to solo (that has decent drops) no longer a possible soloing area. I have since discovered the error of my ways though I will be more sociable in the game now to always ask where better places to solo are. So don't be too mean to them there are still a bunch of places that you can solo with the 55hp monk build. Now if they nerf all those places for that monk build then they deserve everything I said. From what I can tell that build is probably the best one I've seen and used for soloing. | Hi this is commenter #3 11/03/2006 11:37 | | dude he didn't say he never farmed. he said he farmed in groups | to comment #6 06/03/2006 06:06 | | Just curious as to how you can say that because I have taken 3 different RPG characters all the way through the game without farming (I even did the majority of the quests) and never come close to getting enough gold to get all the stuff I need to make 1 maxed out warrior, 15k armor with Superior Absorbtion and Vigor runes. | This is to C'mon 05/03/2006 12:41 | | Yeah I have to admit that they do change everything that lets u get an advantage over other character class builds at least when it comes to farming. That is a pretty dumb thing when it comes to the pve part of the game because that part of the game in a since doesn't really affect the gvg and pvp stuff because u can just create a max character for that aspect of the game anytime u want to.
U do actually have a few good points when it comes to things that u learn in the game being taken away. I have to say that it is unfair for the staff to change these things just because they want people to be more cooperative and do missions together and (from what it seems) take away people's abilities to solo an area when these people made the effort to learn how to do it. From what i've read in other forums about this subject (farming pro & con) all those who are for farming (like u are) their argument makes the most since to me. Most of them say they want to feel like there's a since of achievement and since the lvl cap is low they would like the things that they've discovered (things like soloing certain area's or making money quick) to be available but these options keep being taken away by the Guild Wars staff making updates to change these areas.
The people on the opposite side of the argument pretty much there argument is one sided and really has an unfair perspective. The creators of the game even say that it was designed to have 2 elements in the game.
The 1st was to have an actual rpg campaign and experiance where you could go out into the world they designed and have fun exploring and doing quests while following a story line also getting neat sparkly little magical items and things to help you build a powerful character (somewhat like a traditional MMORPG). While building this character it could also participate in the 2nd element of the game.
The 2nd element of the game is mainly to build characters to fight against other characters in groups or guilds learning to build different groups and use your skills in different and more effective ways. Essentially the more team and cooperative part of the game.
Pretty much the opposite argument is that farming/soling takes cooperation of teamwork out of the game and also makes it unfair for someone to have that much more of an advantage.
Ofcourse that's not true though because no one could ever solo most or even all of the cooperative missions, no matter what the element of cooperation is going to remain in Guild Wars. When it comes to someone figuring out a way to make more money in this type of game by soloing/farming than another player shouldn't this be something that's smiled upon. The staff should almost reward it not nerf it. They should be happy that one of the players figured out a way utilize their 8 skill/spell slots to go and take on entire armies by themselves with just those few skills from their library of abilities after all isn't that kinda the point... learnig how to use the skills to the best of your advantage.
Well anyway i'm not sure who you are but your little story I thought was actually pretty funny and probably closer to the truth than what some people are saying. If areanet wants to keep both elements in the game then they need to do just that (keep both of the elements in the game not just gvg, & pvp). I love what you said near the end of your post I'll paste it in quotes
"They might as well start making every place that a W/Mo can run through completely impossible to do and also make it impossible to take an entire party through from one area to the next no matter where it is just for the hell of it. You know because you don't anyone to possibly have an advantage over another player in anything whatsoever or that would just be unfair."
It is destroying the RPG element of the game when they try to make it so that something that's possible for 1 class build
to do is no longer possible because other class builds can't. The fact that one can do something and another can't is the very reason that they're different and making it so they no longer have a certain advantage is unfair. If a W/Mo can solo an area because this build provides the needed healing and the tanking power needed then all the more power to that class build. If other builds discover certain areas where they can solo then let be so, I can honestly say that I do agree that it's retarded that they have nerfed so many good things in the game. The game has lost a ton of true RPG element.
I might get Factions but if it keeps doing the same thing as the 1st chapter than I think I'm going to go back to WoW or maybe try EQ2 | To "Changes since 3/2/06" 05/03/2006 12:29 | | before the update there was a constant river of monks and some warriors just running from the augury rock merchant to out augury rock's western entrance, assumably to go farm solo. that's not how this area was intended to be played. ANet fixed it, and cudos to them.
I never solo, and only ever use henchies where i have to. I just find playing the game w/out a group exceedingly antisocial. but NEEDING to solo to make money? why? i've got more gold than i know what to do with farming with full parties! | c'mon 05/03/2006 11:49 | | This area use to be a great place to go solo farming with a W/Mo and still is a fairly good place but now you'll just have to run anytime the new scarab insects come around and they are all over the area now.
I really like Guild Wars but it's strange and really kind of stupid how everytime there is a good place for solo farming with a character build the developers/game designers make it so these areas where it can be done is no longer possible thus destroying the market for being able to make a decent amount of money and buy things for your character(s).
Part of the fun in MMORPG's is farming to get money, it really is. Sometimes I like the fact that I learned how to make alot of money by farming an area all by myself. Also that if I have a need for in game money I can go solo somewhere to get some instead of paying for virtual money which is retarded.
I'm beggining to wonder if they're making places in the game where lots of money can be made impossible to solo is because their trying to make money to support they're servers by selling GW gold through various websites. I'm pretty sure that's stupid assumption because I know they're loaded but why would they be making their game less enjoyable for their own customers... are they trying to lose them?
All I know is that I know of a few more places left that can still be farmed solo and once those locations get altered to the point where they can no longer be solo farmed I'm going back to paying for a real mmorpg. It's actually worth paying for a fun game that doesn't take away the very things that you enjoy about the game 2-3 weeks after you discover them.
Here's an example of the Guild Wars team at work:
Game Designer and Crew: We have developed a new MMORPG type of online game and it will be free other than the initial cost of the software. However it will have a twist and the characters will be challenged in the way that they will have limited abilities by only having a certain number of known skills/spells at a time. This will create a fun challenge for the characters as they travel through the world of Tyria. The level cap will not be announced at this time but I'm sure when you first discover it you will all be very disappoi..I mean happy, yes very happy, that's what I meant. Those who learn more about the spells/skills will have a slight advantage over other players as they will be able to use them more to their ability having earned it through experimantation and self gained knowledge.
3-4 months after the initial release of Guild Wars:
Guild Wars Programmers having a conversation while monitering a couple of different players soloing:
Joe Bob: Well I've been monitering this character right here it appears that he has discovered a way to make more than 1gp an hour by manipulating the character skills to his advantage so he can go into areas and kill the creatures while soloing.
John Doe: Hmmph.. That's pretty cool I didn't ever think of that combination of skills.
Joe Bob: Well don't you think that this could possibly make it unfair for the rest of the players.
John Doe: What do you mean? Unfair how?
Joe Bob: It could start an unfair balance of income to one character he being able to buy better materials and get better items and so on and so forth.
John Doe: You mean kind of like it is in real life like our boss coming up with the idea to create Guild Wars before you or I did and so in real life he gets more income and he gets a better house than you or me and gets more income to get whatever he wants. Is that what you mean?
Joe Bob: Well not like that... well you know what I mean it can be controlled in the game though.
John Doe: Yeah but the realness is actually what kind of make the game fun and fair.
Joe Bob: Well you may think so but I think that this is something that needs to be mentioned to the Guild Master!
John Doe: I don't see why it would matter but ok.
Joe Bob: Well Guild Master there's this character you see and well he learned how to... and anyway John didn't seem to think you would care or anything.
Guild Master: Ok well I already mentioned that we have streaming updates so I'll just start to embellish on why it's so good to have them and secretly we'll start to change every detail in the game that makes it fu..., I mean possible to get money while soloing. For those people who like to actually make money in the game to buy things we'll just tell them well the point of the game isn't to get money even though it's probably the most mandatory thing in the game, the point is to just do the quests and conqure the game and then the improve on pvp, gvg, & pve and the such.
John Doe: But doesn't that seem contradictory since they learned how to do these things in the game by using the skills to their advantage thus doing just as we mentioned at the release of the game. So this would be taking away their personal gained knowledge and in a sense earned abilities.
Guild Master: What!! You dare to question the all powerful Guild Master's great and all knowing wisdom. Joe Bob take John to the back room and have him casterated and then killed slowly by chopping his limbs off with a slightly sharpened spoon.
Well this story is obviously a joke but it sure seems like everything is true about any place that can be soloed being changed as soon as it comes to the knowledge of the Guild Wars staff which is exremely lame ass. They might as well start making every place that a W/Mo can run through completely impossible to do and also make it impossible to take an entire party through from one area to the next no matter where it is just for the hell of it. You know because you don't anyone to possibly have an advantage over another player in anything whatsoever or that would just be unfair. | Changes since 3/2/06 mostly farming changes 04/03/2006 15:11 | | You need to switch 03 and 04 around
