Gotha  (9/40)

Rebuild Gotha

This quest is given by Roland the leader of the rebels in Okara. To complete the task you have to talk to one of the rebels – Shawn. You can find him in Okara caves. All you have to do is to give Shawn demanded amount of money. And it’s Shown who rebuild Gotha.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2500
  • Reputation: Rebels +2

Defeat Potros

This quest appears during conversation with Potros the leader of Orcs stationing in Gotha.

Potros is arrogant and he calls himself a great warrior. Do not be afraid of him and make Potros to duel with you. You are going to fight inside the building so other Orcs will not attack you.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1500
  • Attributes: Strength +1

Hunting demons with Gorn

This quest appears when you talk to Gorn, imprisoned in Gotha. Gorn tells you about the mighty demon devastating Gotha. You have to go to the castle Gotha so you may also take Gorn with you and kill the demon. To get this quest you must accomplish Rescue Gorn from the Orcs in Gotha earlier.

There are a lot of skeletons and zombies in the ruins of Gotha. At the main courtyard you can face a demon. He is not so powerful like Orcs says but he is not weak either. When fighting in Gotha take care for Gorn, because he acts stupid very often (like other NPCs in Gothic 3). After the fight loot the demon’s body: you can find one of Adanos’s artifacts and a great sword (you must have 666 Strength points to use it). Actually you may wait with killing demon until the very late moment of the game, when you learn about Adanos artifacts.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1000

Rescue Gorn from the Orcs in Gotha

This quest appears during talks with Potros and Gorn.

Gorn is imprisoned in the tower where you can find Potros. There are two ways of rescuing Gorn: you can kill all Orcs stationing in Gotha or bribe Potros. Then you may leave Gorn or take him to hunt for the demon.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1500
  • Reputation: Rebels +1

Free Gotha from its curse

This quest is given by Roland the leader of the rebels from Okara. You have to go to Gotha the former castle of paladins, and kill all the undead and the demon. You can also accomplish the quest connected with Gorn.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 5000
  • Reputation: Rebels +2

comments and responses

Once again, this sounds like you did not follow him all the way to Reddock, and walk up to him when he stopped, if you did then he initiates a dialog and tells you (not precisely) where he is going, and heads out there immediately, but since he's still there, and you moved on, that dialog is broken, and can not be repaired. Best advice, is to restart, and make sure you dialog with everyone. Save often and do not always overwrite your save file. You also should make sure you have all the recent patches installed before starting the new game. And as I always remind, make sure you exit the game, restart the program, select new game, without loading a save game.

I don't really understand your situation, did you talk to the orc leader in the building outside the entrance to Gotha? You have to get the quest, you know. Have you already liberated Gotha? If you were fighting them before, then you have already been there. If you restarted the game without exiting Gothic first, then you will have lots of problems, because for some reason, things don't get reset properly and if that's what you mean, That is you were playing and you freed Gotha, then eventually started a new game without first exiting Gothic, then I am not surprised Gotha is uninhabited. You are going to find a lot of the characters that you killed in the first game will not appear in your new game. IOW, you should exit to windows, run Gothic and without loading a saved game, select new game.

Can't help you with the test mode aspect, but I would first try to go back to Gotha, and in the area where you killed the demon, activate a telekinesis spell, to see if the ring is just lying on the ground; I assume the demon corpse has long disappeared, and any residual important items should be left behind on the ground.

If you have already done this, then search some of the other topic threads in this forum where others have described in detail how to spawn items, you have to be careful not to have more than one of the artifacts or other single items in your possession at one time, the game crashes, thus you have to use a chest to store the others in, but you will get better info, if you find the replies from those, who have successfully done, what you want to do.

Subj: missing ring

Like some other players there didn't seem to be a ring after I killed the Demon of Gotha. Unfortunately I was trying to play the game completely on my own, so by the time I even realized there were 5 artifacts to be had weeks had passed and there is no hope of going back and re-loading an earlier game.

I have liberated Nordmar, Myrtana, and the Varant. There is nothing left without the 5 artifacts and I'd like some closure by being able to obtain this ring and finish the game as intended. I read about putting the game in test mode and I have done that successfully but the commands to give or spawn items haven't worked so far.

Can anyone tell me how I can spawn the missing ring and finish this game? I have enjoyed playing Gothic 3 but I have no intention of starting and playing a whole new game from scratch! Help!

It is possible to get the Demon Sword from the Demon in Gotha, but as other have said the demon can not have it equipped when he dies. And my experimentation shows that he will only sheath it once. So what does that mean, you must get his health down to the point where one more hit will kill him, move away so he will sheath the sword, then use a ranged attack to finish him off. The sword will then be on his corpse, it is only worth a dollar and requires 666 strength to wield (large weapon skill also required). It is relatively useless, but him having or not having it is not a bug, just a constant quirk. Oh and it also means that you have to leave Gorn imprisoned until after you kill the demon, and he will no longer go to Gotha. Even after you release him, he goes back to his 'cell'. If you have to ask, because Gorn will keep the demon occupied with sword drawn. And once you kill the demon there is no reason for him to go to Gotha.

According to others, it is possible, but the demon must not be wielding it (sword drawn) when he dies. Then it is in the inventory on his corpse. So obviously you must kill via a ranged attack when his health bar is low enough that one shot/spell will finish him off and he does not have opportunity to heal. I tried it a couple times with no success. But since it takes 666 strength to wield, why do you want it? 666 is possible, if you forego just about everything but adding to strength, but then you will not be a very rounded character. No one that claims to have gotten has reported the usefulness of it, so if you do, let the community know what good it is.

Is it really possible to get that so called demon sword? I have loaded and reloaded my game damn near 50 times by now, and still so sword drops when I kill the demon of Gotha... any ideas?

Gorn goes into one of the houses and sits; he stays there for the rest of the game, unless you ask him to accompany you. You should have no trouble finding him if you check, I could tell you precisely which house, but then you would not explore; and find the rest of the booty in Gotha.

I have a question: where Gorn goes after we defeat the demon and all the undead?

dude The only thing I can tell you for sure is to make sure that you do not fight the orcs that enter Gotha, move away and watch, you can plunder the bodies, but do not join in the fight, if you do, all of Faring will follow you and attack you. The best thing to do is to just leave. There are no further uses for Gotha. No quests after killing all the undead and freeing the town, and yes it is taken over by rebels, that is the normal. If you go to Shawn in Okara and give him some gold to rebuild, he will set out for Gotha, sometimes he shows up there and sometimes he seems to get lost.
