Cape Dun  (6/40)

Cyrus needs booze

Quest is given by Cyrus.

Cyrus is one of mercenaries working for Orcs in Cape Dun. You may find him near Buford and Urkrass storehouse. It’s very easy task: you must have at least one bottle of booze in your inventory. If you don’t just buy one and give it to Cyrus. Cyrus can give you a quest and company you during accomplishing it.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 500
  • Reputation: Cape Dun +10

Bring his goods back to Urkrass

This quest is given by an arrogant Orc Urkrass, a storekeeper in Cape Dun.

Your aim is to find three crates of goods belonging to Urkrass. You may find them in the cave occupied by Ortega’s bandits. It’s quite difficult fight because of the number of bandits. Fortunately you may use a terrain object to help in the clash. In one of caves (you can see it on the screen above) there is a wall, you can climb on. From this place you can observe thieves and shoot at them. When they approach to you just jump down. This way you can kill a lot of enemies before they think of surrounding you, using a corridor. After killing Ortega, you may loot the caves. Beside Urkrass goods you may find here a few crates of oil – needed for finishing another quest.

It may happen that you will not find goods in Ortega’s caves. Then you have to look for them in the bandits’ camp between Jens’ hut and the seashore.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1500
  • Reputation: Cape Dun +15

The captured paladin’s belongings

This quest appears during a conversation with Gamal – the slave hunter standing next to the gates to Cape Dun.

Ask Gamal about captured paladin. Gamal tells you that he sold paladin’s equipment to Urkrass. Now you have to go to Urkrass and buy the equipment from Urkrass.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 5000
  • Reputation: Rebels +1

The alchemist’s chest

This quest appears if you ask Marlo from Reddock about people trading goods in Myrtana. In Cape Dun there is a dubious alchemist and it’s his chest you have to loot.

You can solve this quest in two ways. You may way until Fadi leaves his hut to prepare some potions in hi cauldron. Then loot his chest. Second option is to wait until liberation of the city from Orcs hands. Then you will have to kill all Orcs and their allies (including Fadi). Dead alchemist is not going to protest against opening his chest, any longer.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 500
  • Attributes: Thieving +1

The quartermaster in Cape Dun needs healing potions

Quartermaster Deckard gives this quest.

You can find Deckard near the Urkrass warehouse, next to the storehouse. Quartermaster needs three healing potions. You should have them in your inventory. If you don’t just buy or prepare a few. After completing this quest you will be allowed to buy goods from Deckard.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 500
  • Reputation: Cape Dun +10

Harek wants meat

This quest is given by Harek, who can be found near the Cape Dun (next to the hills).

To get this quest you have to talk to Harek in a proper way (this means that Harek must admit he is a slave). You have only one chance to finish this quest because Harek asks you only once. It’s not your last meeting with Harek.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 500

Lamp oil for Ardea

This quest is given by a merchant Iomar. You may find him on the crossroad near Ortega’s caves. Iomar had been robbed by Ortega’s bandits, who stole five crates of oil. You can find these crates in Ortega’s caves during solving another quests. After defeating enemies take all crates with you (you can find them on the floor in caves) and give them back to Iomar.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 500
  • Attributes: Thieving +1

Liberate Cape Dun

There are a few characters connected with this quest but the most important are Phil and paladin Wenzel. When you are ready (this means when you finish all your businesses with Phil) persuade paladin to attack Orcs.

It’s going to be very tough fight because there are a lot of Orcs. Wenzel rushes to attack immediately and the best way is to let Orcs to concentrate on paladin. You may stay aside and attack at the back Orcs and mercenaries charging at Wenzel. You must still move not to let bowmen and crossbowmen to shoot at you. After defeating all rivals at the top of Cape Dun head down. You may use your bow here and shoot at Orcs attacking Wenzel. The clash may look different depending on Wenzel’s behavior. Sometimes it’s a good idea to let Orcs storm the building the paladin was imprisoned in –this way you are not being attacked by too many enemies at one time. But you may not hide for too long cause Wenzel is not immortal and you have to support him.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 5000
  • Reputation: Rebels +10

Bundles of weapons for Phil

Quest is given by an underground agent Phil. You have to bring him three bundles o weapons. You may find it in the bandits’ camp (I wrote about it describing Urkrass’s case). A few bundles can be found in the caves under Cape Dun, but you must defeat very strong monsters to get it (these beats are rather too strong at this moment).

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 500
  • Reputation: Rebels +1

A plague of bandits in the coastal region

You may hear rumors about bandits from a few people but this quest is given by Cyrus (you gave him booze). Those famous bandits are Ortega’s thieves. You can solve this quest during other quests (for Urkrass and Iomar). You may take Cyrus with you.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1000
  • Reputation: Orcs +1
  • Reputation: Cape Dun +10

Defeat Fadi in the arena

It’s Arokh who rules the arena in Cape Dun. You have to talk to him if you want to duel in the arena. Fadi is your first opponent. Rules are the same as ever.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1250
  • Reputation: Cape Dun +10
  • Attributes: Strength +1

Defeat Darmok in the arena

Darmok is the second fighter you can duel in Cape Dun.

Fadi is a weak swordsman; Darmok is a little better, (he is quite strong). You shouldn’t have any problems. Remember about the rules (do not leave the arena, do not kill opponents).

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2500
  • Reputation: Cape Dun +10
  • Attributes: Strength +1

Help Harek escape

Harek gives the quest, but only if you want to take him back to Gamal. You have to decide which side to support. If you want to help Harek, lead him to Jens’ hut. Harek can teach you Acrobatic skill.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 1000
  • Reputation: Rebels +1

Wenzel cleans up

Wenzel gives the quest, just after persuading him to liberate Cape Dun. To complete the mission you have to follow paladin, until you both kill all enemies.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 750
  • Reputation: Rebels +1

Pelts for Jens the hunter

Jens, living in a hut between Cape Dun and seashore, gives this quest. You have to bring Jens ten wolf skins. Probably you can’t skin animals at this moment but you may finish this task in another way. Go to Cape and look for skins. You can find there more than ten pieces of skin, on the ground and behind buildings.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 500
  • Reputation: Cape Dun +10

Steal 3 golden goblets from Urkrass’s warehouse

It’s Serduk who gives this quest. You can find him near Phil, Cyrus and the rest of mercenaries.

Stealing goblets is easier than it seems. Enter the storehouse by the door at the back. You can find goblets on the floor and shelves. If you are happy Urkrass will leave the storehouse. Even if he stays inside just check if he is looking at you: when he can’t see you grab goblets. You may steal as long as Urkrass is looking outside. When you get all goblets leave the warehouse, and if anybody asks you about missing items, just say you don’t know anything.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2500
  • Attributes: Thieving +1

Take Harek the slave back to Gamal

Quest is given by Gamal the slave hunter who told you about paladin’s equipment. Harek is the slave you have to bring back to Gamal (you met Harek earlier). Go to Harek and bring him back. You have to choose between bringing Harek to Gamal and letting him go.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2500
  • Reputation: Hashishin +1

Kill all the hungry wolf packs around Cape Dun

Bufford, the leader of mercenaries in Cape Dun, gives this quest.

  • Experience points: 500
  • Reputation: Cape Dun +15
  • Attributes: Hunting skills +1

Wenzel’s lost sword

It’s Wenzel who gives this quest just after liberating Cape Dun.

You can solve this quest when you reach Montera. There is a cave just next to the city, occupied by a group of hungry wolves. Kill all beasts and loot the cave. Wenzel’s sword is next to the chest.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 500
  • Reputation: Rebels: +1

Quest is given by Esiel. Bring him twelve pieces of healing root and you get a teacher.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 250
  • Reputation: Cape Dun +10
  • Attributes: Alchemy +1

This quest is given by Uruk the Orc leader in Cape Dun. Talking to him ask for current problems and you get this quest. Your job is to kill Phil.

You don’t have to talk to Phil – just approach him and attack. Don’t be afraid of Orcs reaction – they are not going to attack you.

Benefits:

  • Experience points: 2500
  • Reputation: Orcs +2

comments and responses

If that's what u really want to do; to kill him. Then once he's down u must hold the right (mouse) button down, then left click and the hero will execute the coup de grace move, killing the foe. U will need to do this on others to kill them too. Some will die from battle, others u must execute the coup de grace move. U will figure it out. Quite simply, this was necessary because sometimes u just want to beat them up and not kill them. Beware though, killing Phil will alienate u from the rebels. Gives u points from the Orcs though.

I've got a question. I just started playing a week ago and I seem to be stuck with Uruk's quest where I have to kill Phil. I go and do that, but I don't seem to be able to finish the qust, I don't get any reputation nor experience points and he keeps getting up all the time. Is that a bug or something or am I doing something wrong ( what at surprise... )?

Try exiting completely out of the game, then load save game. If that doesn't work I can only assume you have encountered a bug. Though that's one I have never seen b4. U will have the problem if you load a save game after taking the lamp oils, stuff doesn't reset unless u exit out of the game and start fresh load. Make sure u have all the latest patches installed.

Not the bandits in ortega's cave, they have the stolen lamp oil, but some bandits in the grassy area near Cape Dun. If you leave Cape Dun head toward the hunter cabin and turn to the right, do not go down onto the beach but search the area in the tall grass, you should find them. Another small band of bandits, that is, and Urkrass' crates will be lying about their campsite.

My guess is, you are not advanced enough to even attempt liberations, each town has a entire list of quests, you need to complete those quest to gain both reputation and experience. Complete ALL quests (except liberation) in ALL towns before liberating any. When liberating, you have to be the primary fighter and take out the orc chief first, then the battle becomes easier, but not easy. If you try to let the rebels handle the heavy fighting, then you will likely find them all dead. It sounds like that is your problem. If you thought you must kill all orcs from the beginning, who ever or what ever gave you that notion was wrong. To get the most from this game, you must initially work for both orc and rebels. Be neutral, the deciding for which faction need not come until late in the game. In fact, you can not make the decision until you have found all the Adanos artifacts, at that point the decision is based on what you choose to do with them. In the meantime, play both sides of the street, you will need to make some interim decisions on a low level, but other than Ardea, and then Gotha and Veguard, you need not liberate a single other town until you make the decision with the artifacts.

From Ardea take the road to Venguard, there are critters along the way, but if you can't handle them, then you definitely can't handle Ortega. Along the way you will come upon one of those 'stonehedge' things with a hunter camped there, who will give you some more information on Ortega, and also give you the shy deer quest (see Ardea section). From inside the stone ring, Ortega's cave is the only one you can see. The hunter will nod his head towards it. If you still have problems finding it, just ask. Lots of wolves around. You can pick off some of Ortega's gang with a bow or magic, but eventually you will have to fight a gang. Be prepared.

Well i guess you might just want to try killing all the orcs in town perhaps ? Maybe you whount get the support of the rebels ( since you haven't done some quests with them, like give them weapon bundles to fight with you ) . But as previous experience show even if you don't have the quest to liberate a town for isntance you start killing the orcs and kill enough of them the other ones will run away and you start and immidiately complete Liberate mission and get your reward. Only thing you might loose is getting the few exp or money reward from people who otherwise whould ask you to do so. Like saying " I Liberated Cape Dun " " Wow thx, here you are, some gold ( and exp ) " . If the game is in a rather early stage maybe starting new is a good idea. I did my Cape Dun liberation mission very late though, lol . My reason was i couldn't find the 3 Hungry wolfs who were rather up a mountain. I even killed the dragons back then to find those last wolves xD

Maybe if your really bad off, You Could try to cheat yourself out of this bug situation. Like i once when had a problem with killing a shaman in an orc camp, all of them ran away before i even got close to him. I just used the simplest cheat i used god mode ran right to him killed him turned it off fast and continued the party. I know for example Mongo never cheated and propobly never will, but don't you think that if there IS a bug in the game, you should try to resolve it not start a new one and ruin your current game coz of the inconvinience of some beta testers or something. One i could maybe advise to try is summoning the Key NPCs who got killed all over? You could back up your game with an extra save or in windows.

Giant bug thing? Not sure what that could be, other than a bloodfly and there are none of those close enough to Cape Dun to be a problem, unless it followed YOU to the town. You are the hero, you don't attract stuff into the towns for the inhabitants to kill, you do the killing. Your best bet is to start a new game, and make sure you exit to windows before you do so, so everything (esp. Gamel) gets reset to normal. And this time make sure you run away from towns to lose pursuers you do not wish to engage; and if you see a wolf stray into the area just outside Cape Dun and attack the woodcutters, don't be a spectator, remember, you are playing the role of the HERO, it is your job to go kill it. Since I see lots of questions related to this syndrome, I assume there must be someone out there giving advice to lure monsters into towns for the townies to kill, if so, it is very bad advice. You lose the experience from killing the beast and most importantly, a key person (NPC) could get killed that prevents you from being able to progress through the story. Now get out there and be a Ninja Jedi.
