Gorn shows you the rebels’ hideout
Quest is given by Gorn in Ardea. You have to follow him until you reach the rebels’ camp in Reddock. This is the first task of the whole series of quests connected with following or escorting NPC to the particular place. In this quest you shouldn’t wait too long with completing (or even getting) because Rebels will come anyway and you will loose experience points.
This is one of the easiest quests – the journey is quite short and you will meet only one scavenger. In the further part of the game this kind of quests makes a lot more troubles (there are more beasts waiting for you and when you reach your goal there usually is a fight too).
Benefits:
- Experience points: 250
- Reputation: Rebels +1
Jack and the bilge rats
Quest is given by an old sailor Jack, living in the old tower on the seashore. Your task is to find and kill a band of bilge rats, wandering nearby.
You can find them near the tower, sitting next to the campfire. Kill them all but try not to fight with all of them at the one time – try to lure them out, one by one. When you’re done go back to Jack for your prize.
Benefits:
Jack’s rebel gold
Quest is given by Serduk from Cape Dun (of course you have to go there first, and it takes some time). Completing this quest is very easy – you must go to the Jack’s tower (you killed for him a few bilge rats) and talk to him. He will give you the money without any problems.
Benefits:
- Experience points: 750
- Attributes: Thieving +1
Talk to the leader of the Rebels!
Quest is given by Hamlar from Ardea. After the clash with Orcs talk to Hamlar and ask him about news, Xardas and Rebels.
When Gorn leads you to Reddock, enter the tunnel to the cave. On the lowest floor you can find a former paladin Javier. He is the leader you must talk to.
Benefits:
- Experience points: 1000
- Reputation: Rebels +1
Liberate Ardea from the Orcs!
This quest is not given by anyone (it appears automatically when the game starts), but you may talk to Hamlar when Orcs are dead. To complete the mission you have to kill all Orcs in Ardea. It’s not so hard (Orcs are not fighting so good as they usually do) and you can count on your friends and slaves who help you in the battle.
Do not act noble knight – you have friends so you may outnumber your enemies. Do not hesitate to hit Orcs from the back; you will not be spared in such situation.
Benefits:
- Experience points: 500
- Reputation: Rebels +2
Kill the shy deer
Chris, a hunter sitting in the stone circle between Ardea and Vengard, gives the quest. You have to bring him meat of five shy deers.
You must be very patient completing this quest. A deer can’t be killed with one shot and it’s very easy to shy it. You should do that this way: shot the deer and it starts running when hurt. But after a while deer will come back and then you can kill it. It’s not the best idea to follow the deer after the first shot – you have very very little chance to catch it. You may approach it a little but not too much. Anyway it’s very frustrating task. The second option is to wait until buying better bow that can kill a deer with one shot but it takes some time. After completing a quest Chris becomes you teacher.
Benefits:
- Experience points: 250
- Attributes: Hunting skills +1

comments and responses
 | If memory serves me (it's been quite some time) Jack is north of Ardea outside a lighthouse. | Mongo1 04/07/2009 11:15 | | Ok, I've got a question..and Mongo1 i expect you to answer it, so...I was level 64 when I realized that I didn't kill vak the orc leader from trelis when i liberated the town, so i started all over cause my console for cheats won't work, and when i start the game i just spawn with diego gorn and milter killing orcs in ardea, and i cant find that jack guy, where is he? who is he? | vooky 03/07/2009 22:14 | | Are you hoping for a better response, they don't really retreat, as I said in the other thread where you asked this. They run away, but die, they will not be far from where they started. Use a telekensis spell to find the stuff they dropped. Little piece of advice, to prevent the important ones from running off, engage and kill them first. Then you won't ever have this problem. | Mongo1 20/12/2008 00:18 | | When fighting the orcs and they retrest where can you firnd them again to take their inventorey and get mora suls temple keys????
| hellothere03102 19/12/2008 12:19 | | See Faring, you need only ask once. | Mongo1 08/09/2008 21:27 | | Someone help me, please!!!!
I'm only liberated cape dun n montera(vengard n gotha doesn't count isn't it?)....
BUT I COME TO FARING N THE ORC MERCENARY (of course orc too n hashihin likes ALI ) ATTACK ME there.....
why?
is it a bug or not?
If I come to Nordmar, not through the faring.....
Is it Fine? or not?
HELP ME PLIZZZZZZZZZZZ.......
| DhyoZZ 08/09/2008 18:58 | | Well Mongol, I had already dedicated the artifacts, chose Innos, and had the Kings blessing to dispose the Orcs and Hashishin. I did the town quests, but nothing for the Hashishin, because they very much remind me of Arabs, and I've been there and have "nothing" for the freaking Arabs, therefore nothing for the Hashinshin but the sharp end of a sword. I never could find that dude Sanuyem in the last game, and so was unable to obtain the fire resistance, and that left me vulnerable to shaman spells. So, why did the producers place so few high level trainers in the game? Without sucking up to the Hashishin you cannot get the training you need, and I wanted to forge magic ore weapons, but the Nordland Smiths just up and disappeared. I did find two of them by accident, but never the others. I believe the game is rigged against the player, and I'll probably never try the damn thing again. I have enjoyed these conversations with you. Best of luck and good gaming. - El Halcon | El Halcon 04/07/2008 18:59 | | To gain peaceful entry (and that's the only way to get the training), you need 75 reputation with the Hashishin. To get that you must kill more than one water mage along with a number of other quests. A quest for Gonzales (Mora Sul) asks you to kill them all. And obviously you can not have liberated more than one hashishin town (recommend Lago with Shakyor, to free the water mage imprisoned there). There is a rather twisted sequence to all that, if you want maximum experience points. It involves killing Sugat (but not his generic groupies), accompany Hurit to kill Sugat's companions, liberating Lago with Shakyor, free Vatras, take him to Hurit, kill Hurit, go back and kill Shakyor. Obviously you are playing nuetral, and have not chosen sides just yet, and must not have a reservations about who you off. But this completes a number of high experience level quests. | Mongo1 04/07/2008 12:21 | | You are dead right about using two swords, and I really wanted to get the master level, but never figured out how to get into that holy city (Ishtar?) where the only master trainer is located - and the recommendation letter did not help. There does not seem to be any nomads around to help with the revolution either. I may decide later to give the stand-alone version a try, oh, and on a sideline, the game "Two Swords" is rather good. Too short and too many uniforms, but interesting. Later and good gaming. - El Halcon | El Halcon 04/07/2008 06:37 | | See the 'What kind of RPG is Gothic 3?' thread for another downer. But his problem isn't bugs, but his approach to the game. Trust me the stand alone version does not have the problems you describe. And yes, you can execute the coup de grace move with two weapons wielded as long as they are swords. I decided to try the two weapon thing and so far I am satisfied with the results. Engaging trolls is much easier because you are nearly twice as likely to hit the troll which cancels his blows. If I get in close enough, I never miss and don't get hit a single time. You sacrifice some defensive ability, but do far more damage in a shorter period of time, and when fighting gangs that can be huge. | Mongo1 02/07/2008 21:21 | | Mongol 1: Wanted to say thanks for your help trying to figure out this game. At Level 67, I completed every quest at Mora Sul and became good buddies with Gonzales - well except for killing Hassan. Yet, when Kaylor and the Nomads attacked the city, they were cut down by the guards, and every time I swung my swords they passed right through the Hashshimi without effect, and the Hashshimi just ignored me while finishing off the Nomads. This is just an impossible game (for me), but most interesting and entertaining until you realize the game can never be finished.
p.s. Those Best Buy disks that I broke never would load, and there were many game player complaints about the worthless disks purchased from Best Buy, but I had discarded the receipt. I downloaded the game and both community updates, and used the worthless game's product key to register online. I will not purchase a stand-alone Gothic III game - with an Instruction Book, because my game experience is now tainted.
Buy the way, where are the other bloggers on this site? Has everyone quit playing this game already? Others having negative experience? - El Halcon | El Halcon 02/07/2008 02:29 | | Really sorry to hear that you have had so much of a problem. I am currently playing it for the first time since installing the community patch, no problems so far, and I really never (pre-patched) had the kind of problems you have experienced. I am level 51, and have not liberated anything yet. Have had no trouble completing quests. I am also playing it on average difficulty, so it is much more difficult to take on a pack of anything, but I am getting it done. Have not been to Nordmar yet (except to give the ancestor stone to the guy waiting at the campfire just past the Faring pass). Mostly done with all but the decider quests in Myrtanna, except haven't been to Venguard, and been to all cities in the desert except Ishtar. | Mongo1 22/06/2008 20:26 | | Well Mongo 1, I started over again from scratch and have reached level 67, but the game is still screwed. I've successfully started revolts in several cities, but still cannot kill any members of the Orc roving patrols, nor can I kill any Hashishin. This game has the makings of a very fine game, but is glitched from the get go. I've given up the game, broken the damn game disks, and swear I'll never purchase anything created by Piranha Bytes ever again. May the producers of this screwed-up game burn in hell. I'm finished - El Halcon | El Halcon 22/06/2008 19:16 | | A reinstall may be the cure for you, but I was just talking about exiting the game and restart before initiating a new game.
A fresh load of the game should reset everything, just don't load a saved game, immediately select new game. | Mongo1 23/05/2008 01:31 | | You were correct that some things do not reset - when starting over. This last re-start did not contain the two gold goblets in Urkrass' warehouse from Cyrus' quest. I did steal them during the previous game, but they are not to be found in this re-start. Makes one wonder how many other objects and NPC's may be missing. A full game re-install is now totally obvious. | El Halcon 22/05/2008 22:36 | |
