[Mission 08] Guardrail IX - Warm-up (66/91)

Threats: You should know that this is a very challenging mission. The most important thing is that you’ll have to go in alone. It means that you’ll have to be extremely careful, especially while moving to a new shooting position. You can’t miss any of the enemy soldiers. There are a lot of snipers in the area. Furthermore, some of the terrorists are standing inside buildings. You won’t be able to spot them by using the tactical view. Thankfully, you will have an opportunity of issuing commands to a drone. It should provide a much needed help in some areas of the map. Just make sure you’re not moving too fast. Remember that you aren’t rushed by anything. It’s best to make a complete scan before moving forward.

Main objective: The primary objective for this mission is to retrieve the football that was taken by the leader of the terrorist organization. Sadly, you won’t be able to do that. Your plans will change during the course of this mission. As a result, you will have to destroy a large tower in order to disable the Guardrail IX system. You should also know that you will go in alone.

Walkthrough: You start off inside an allied gunship (#1). I would recommend that you listen closely to what the commanding officer and the US president have to say. Wait for the gunship to stop (#2). Use the rope in order to reach the ground safely (#2). CHECKPOINT 1.

	Tough mission... that's for sure. The fact that you're alone and with a jammed signal made it harder. But what I did, was move along the left side of the building... between it and the fence. That gets you to where the perpendicular street is... north of your location. Before moving to the left, turn around the snipe-out the soldier across the field, to your south. Then take out the soldier using the gunpost, in the tower, to the left of the Antenna. You have to take him out before he turns towards you. There are two other soldiers on the ground... but they're easy to knock off. The guy that killed me a couple times was the hidden one, near the entrance to the antenna's location, in the covered parking. But I used my grenade launcher and blasted him into pieces. 	There is no need for rocket launcher here so pack a good assault rifle. I tried going north clearing all soldiers as I went by. Then once you reached the end turn left towards the antenna tower and slower pick off the soldiers. Once you rush in to place the C4 rush out and head towards west (railway) and keep running west off the railway towards the extraction point about 300 metres away. As you run, run zig zag to reduce enemy hit shots. I managed to escape alive with only shooting a few soldiers.	Hint 01/11/2006 09:51
