Use the lever to deactivate the generator without causing a base wide alarm

Every major outpost has a power grid supplied by a generator - a device located in an isolated (and often unguarded) location surrounded by a fence. A working generator enables the enemy to have a working alarm system, use anti-aircraft batteries to shoot down a helicopter, interfere with the drone signal to deprive you of your recon, or simply have working headlights to be more effective during night time.

All of these advantages can be easily dealt with by deactivating the power supply. In most cases, the generators are located in the remote corners of the base (there are minor cases in which the generator is located in the center), in a restricted area which can be guarded by up to 2 soldiers. Once you've managed to approach the generator, you are left with a few ways to disable it:

  • Approach the control panel and interact with the lever - this will disable the generator without making any serious noise.
  • Destroy it using a remote charge. This will cause a lot of noise and commotion, so make sure to leave the nearest vicinity and/or find a safe location before detonating the explosive.
  • Simply fire at it using your weapon - a few hits will be enough for the generator to burst in flames and explode, unfortunately with a lot of noise.

If you've chosen to destroy the generator, prepare a way out and leave the enemy base for at least 5 minutes. What for? The blowing up of the generator makes a lot of noise - after a short while, the area will be crawling down with soldiers, or even a helicopter that was patrolling the vicinity and got directed to the blast area. While the event may attract helicopters that are patrolling the area. Staying away for a few minutes is a period of time enough for the enemy to return to their posts, enabling you to have a clean approach to the enemy base.

Getting rid of the generator will disable the power supply, which means:

  • The enemy won't be able to turn on the alarm, while you won't need to search for an alarm box to disable the mechanism;
  • The lights will be disabled, facilitating night operations, which sometimes become almost too easy thanks to low visibility and short field of view;
  • You are free to conduct safe recon using a drone, as the drone jammer will become inactive.
