How to play Conqueror? For Honor Conqueror Guide

This chapter contains detailed description of the Conqueror. You will find here information about his strengths and weaknesses, full moveset and combat tips.

Last update: 17 February 2017

By MMO games standards, the Conqueror is a typical tank. The Conqueror can take almost any hit, block it and lose no health points and, at the same time, can deal a lot of damage. This hero is equipped with a flail and a shield - the weapon gives him a rather good reach and allows to deal a lot of damage while the shield is something that distinguishes the Conqueror from other classes.

Description - strengths and weaknesses

The Conqueror on the character selection screen.

Thanks to the shield, this class can block almost any attack (not counting those that are unblockable). What is more, thanks to the Superior Block feat blocking enemy hits works similarly to parries - an enemy that hits you is pushed back slightly and their chain attacks are aborted. Superior Block works against heavy attacks - more information can be founded later in this chapter. Additionally, the Conqueror can enter Full Block Stance - when this happens, this character can block every attack, regardless of the side from which it comes (stances). Full Block Stance has one flaw - each blocked attack consumes a little bit of stamina, staying in this mode also depletes it.

This character is perfect for those players who prefer defensive play style - blocking all of your enemy's attacks and hitting them when they can't do anything. The Conqueror is perfect for defending checkpoints in Dominion mode - your enemies won't be able to chase you away, while your allies can do something else. But this doesn't mean that you can't play aggressively. Quite the opposite - thanks to the ability to chain light attacks endlessly and the Shield Bash attack you can attack your enemies all the time, giving them no chances for counterattacks.

This character has two flaws. The first is the speed of attacks - not counting light attacks, most of them are rather slow which means, that most of the experienced players can easily dodge them and perform counterattacks. The second flaw is the lack of Feint - this is the only class that can't cancel a heavy attack to mislead enemies. But there is a way to deal with it - more in the next chapters.

Moveset and hero-specific abilities

All available moves. - How to play Conqueror? - Knights - For Honor Game Guide
All available moves.

Conqueror's feats are focused mostly on boosting defensive abilities of this class but, at the same time, you have the access to some abilities that are perfect for disturbing your enemies. A proper use of those feats and moves can make you almost invincible, even though you won't be able to crush your enemies like the others classes can, for example Raider.

Passive abilities

The Conqueror has 7 passive abilities:

  • Renown - gain more Renown points to unlock feats; you get them when you help your allies and defend checkpoints.
  • Can't Feint - this character can't use Feints to cancel their heavy attack and use another one.
  • Superior Block - interrupts heavy and light attacks. When an attack is blocked, enemy is pushed back slightly and their chain is aborted.
  • Superior Block Heavy Attacks - heavy attacks have Superior Block property during startup. Useful when it comes to counterattacks.
  • Charged Attacks - allows to "charge" heavy attacks. An attack of this type has two charging steps. During charging a character can still block enemy's attacks.
  • Charge Attack Limits - a character can't charge attacks when their stamina meter is empty. Charged attacks can be canceled by pressing the Feint button.
  • Zone Attack - zone attacks can be maintained (by holding the button) to keep your enemies at a distance.

Feats

Like all classes in the game, the Conqueror has 12 available feats divided into 4 slots (3 per each) and you can use 4 of them - one per each slot. Below, you can find the table with each feat's description.

Hero Specific moveset

As it was mentioned earlier, this class is focused on stopping enemy's attacks and disturbing them without a pause. The table below contains information about all of the moves for this class.

Name

How to use

Description

Charged Attack

Hold the heavy attack button to start charging the attack. Release it to use the attack.

A powerful attack that also works on enemy's psyche - they can never be sure when you finish charging the attack and release it. What is more, this attack is faster than a "normal" heavy strike - thanks to that, you can surprise your enemy.

The most important thing is that you can charge your attack and defend yourself by using your shield at the same time.

This attack has two charging "levels". The first is when you start charging it, the second happens more or less after a second - in the second case the weapon glows red which indicates that the charging is "finished".

Charging Shield Crush

Press Guard Break button during sprint.

This attack is unavailable in Lock Mode.

This move allows you to "crash" into an enemy using your shield which makes them fall to the ground, giving you (or your allies) an opportunity to use a few attacks.

However, this attack is easy to dodge - an enemy only has to jump sideways and then they can use a devastating counterattack. You should use this move when you want to help your ally when they are surrounded by enemies - there is a small chance that, in this situation, an enemy would dodge your attack.

Shield Bash

Use the dash to move forward or sideways and, during this move, use Guard Break.

Conqueror's key ability. Allows you to bash your enemy using the shield which stuns them for a moment and gives you a chance to attack them. It works similarly to a normal throw but it is easier to perform.

What is more, this attack can be chained with other strikes and used after a heavy attack (Shield Bash Mix Up).

Information on its usefulness can be found in the next chapter (Tips).

Shield Bash Mix Up

Heavy attack followed by Guard Break.

A variant of previously described Shield Bash. Its difference is that it can be easily mixed with attacks. More information about this move can be found in the next chapter (Tips).

Shield Bash Riposte

Use Guard Break when your character is in Full Block Stance.

This move is the same as the two above but its difference is that it can be used in Full Block Stance.

Full Block Stance

Hold Full Block Stance button.

When you hold the button, the character slightly lowers themselves and hides behind their shield. In this stance your character is completely immune to enemy's attacks - they will automatically block attacks from all of the stances (upper, left and right).

During this stance the character loses a small amount of stamina. It also depletes when you block attacks.

Remember that your enemies can still hurt you by using unblockable attacks.

Charging Heavy Attack

Use heavy attack during sprint.

This attack is unavailable in Lock Mode.

This attack can only be used outside of the Lock Mode. It allows you to use a powerful cut which is perfect for beginning a duel.

Conscript's Attrition

Any number of light attacks.

Each light attack must be used in a different stance than the previous one.

Conqueror's powerful ability that was created to disturb other players. Conqueror can endlessly use light attacks thanks to their flail, overwhelming your enemies with attacks as long as your stamina lasts.

But you must remember that each attack must be used in a different stance than the previous one - for example, you can't use two upper light attacks in a row.

Also, don't forget that your enemy can block these attacks.

Final Argument

Light, light, heavy attack.

A combination where your character uses two quick, weak hits and ends with a powerful blow.

What is interesting is that it can be combined with Conscript's Attrition - thanks to that move you can use a few light attacks and end it with a heavy one. After that, you can use Shield Bash and start everything all over again.

This combination is useful when you want to surprise your enemy - after a few light attacks your enemy can expect another light one but instead they will get hit by a heavy attack.

Reaper's Crush

Heavy, heavy attack.

Two powerful hits that are very slow. In most cases you won't be able to land the second attack - an enemy will either parry it or block it.

Zone Attack

Press light and heavy attack buttons at the same time.

A strong attack that allows you to hit all enemies around you. Its biggest strength is that you can keep using it as long as you have stamina - just hold the attack button.

Additionally, this attack can be used in Full Block Stance.

Tips and Tricks

The Conqueror can mix their normal attacks with Shield Bash which stuns the enemies and allows you to continue the onslaught. - How to play Conqueror? - Knights - For Honor Game Guide
The Conqueror can mix their normal attacks with Shield Bash which stuns the enemies and allows you to continue the onslaught.

Some tips that may be useful when using this character:

  • Remember that charging blindly at your enemy and overwhelming them with attacks is the worst thing that you can do. This class requires patient, composure and using your enemy's mistakes.
  • You can create endless attack chains. A good option to choose is to begin a fight by using two light attacks, end them with a heavy one and, after that, using Shield Bash. After that, you can repeat it or you can hit an enemy with a heavy attack and then use Shield Bash. This maneuvers can be repeated over and over again, as long as you have stamina.
  • Remember about the ability to charge heavy attack. An enemy can't foresee when you use the attack and, because of that, they will either stay in defense or make a mistake and reveal themselves for your attacks. But don't forget about your character's stamina - when it depletes, the attack is cancelled, "holding" the charged attack also drains a small amount of stamina. The charging can be cancelled at any moment by pressing Feint button. Because of this, you can surprise your enemy and use a quick, light attack.
  • This character's zone attack is much different than zone attacks of other classes. First - you can use it in Full Block Stance. Second - you can use it as many times as you want. It is perfect for fighting with more than one enemy at the same time because you can keep them at distance - no one can get close to you because they can't hurt you (Full Block Stance) and they would have to guard themselves from your zone attacks. But keep an eye on your stamina meter - this combination of moves can deplete it very quickly.
  • The Conqueror in Revenge mode is a killing machine. When you use this mode, just keep attacking your enemies - your attacks are impossible to block and the biggest flaw of this class, stamina, is no longer a problem because in Revenge mode stamina has no limits. Thanks to that, you can overwhelm your enemies by using light attacks (Conscript's Attrition).
  • If your enemy used Revenge mode, do not attack them. Each one of your attacks ends with them being automatically parried (Superior Block) which makes your character fall to the ground allowing, your enemy to deal you a lot of damage. When you face a Conqueror in Revenge mode you should just run away - no one can defeat such player and blocking their attacks is impossible because they will ignore your block.
  • Keep an eye on your stamina meter. The Conqueror is perfect for disturbing enemies because they can attack non-stop but this can quickly deplete stamina. This, in turn, makes things easier for your enemy. When your stamina starts to deplete (about 1/3 of its length) stop attacking for a few seconds so it can regenerate.
