Childhood  (4/55)

Childhood

You begin the game from choosing the sex of your Hero (the choice has no influence on the gameplay), after which you will be greeted with a funny intro, which will end with a small talk with our sister (or brother, depending on the sex of the Hero), from which we get to know about the dream of the siblings – living in the nearby castle. During the dialogue you can zoom in the screen by pressing the left trigger (LT), so that you can have a closer look on important events, characters or objects. You will be using this multiple time during your adventure. After a while the kids will hear screams and applause coming from afar, and they will decide to go and check it out.

You will gain control over your Hero and begin the game. Follow the glowing path to your first objective. After reaching the scene, a big crowd will block your view. Once again zoom the screen (LT) and hear what the merchant has to say. He offers a magical mirror, which doesn’t interest us, and a magical case, which can grant one wish. The problem is the price, you need 5 golden coins. The glowing path will show you the missions you must complete in order to gain the required number of coins.

Albion's Most Wanted

Mission: Earn a golden coin by finding the arrest warrants on the worst bandits in Albion.

Follow the trail to the nearby guard. You will be given a mission of finding five arrest warrants on the worst bandits in town. Accept the mission by holding down (A). After dealing with the quest, you will earn one golden coin.

You will find the first one on the road after saving the dog.

The second is by the drainage well.

The third lies beneath the streetlamp, next to the stairs leading down.

You will get the fourth after delivering the booze.

Your dog will find the fifth one (you will hear it barking behind you after completing the mission with the bottle)

After completing all five, head back to the guard. But before you will reach him, you will meet a bandit, who will offer a golden coin in exchange for the arrest warrants. The decision is up to you – either way you will be given a golden coin.

Barnum's Image Capturing Device

Mission: Help Barnum by posing to a portrait

The local photographer offers you a golden coin in exchange for posing to a photo. After accepting the mission the only thing you have to do is chosing a gesture, for example the Heroic Pose.

The Duel

You will meet a kid tormenting a dog. He will first render your siblings helpless and start to attack you afterwards. Use (X), draw your wooden sword and beat the hell out of him. After a few hits the youngster will start to cry and run away. Saving the dog will have a positive influence on your reputation in town, but you can’t take the dog with you at the moment. You will get no gold coin for this mission.

The Beetle Hunt

Mission: Get rid of beetles from Balthazar’s warehouse, or break his goods.

In this mission you can also earn a golden coin in two different ways. You must choose between getting rid of the beetles, or destroying the whole warehouse. Whichever option you choose, you’ll get your coin. In the lower right corner there will be a meter showing the progress (it will start couting when you break the first chest or kill the first beetle). The chests are at the ground floor, and the beetles at the first floor. The quickest way to destroy chests in using melee combat (X), and as for the beetles, use your ranged weapon (Y).

Tramp's Treasure

Mission: Retrieve Pete’s stolen bottle.

This mission can be resolved in two separate ways – after acquiring the bottle you can give it back to the bum, or the woman. Whoever you choose – you’ll get your coin. By choosing Betty you will earn some Good points. Head towards the stairs, where you have done the last mission. Next to them there is a small alley, and at the end of it you will find the bottle. Try not to wake up Magpie, who is sleeping right next to it. After you acquire the booze, return to Betty and Pete.

The Love Letter

Mission: Deliver the letter to Monty’s beloved

Head towards the nearby house and knock to the door. Belinda’s mother will open the door. After a while you will be once more given a choice how to end the quest – you can either give the letter to the mother, or go upstairs and give it directly to Belinda. By choosing the second option, you will earn Good points. You’ll get the coin either way.

The Musical Box

After collecting all five coins, walk to the merchant and buy the musical box. After you do that, follow the trail to a more secluded place in order to use the box and make your wish. After a short cut scene the musical box will disappear, and apart from that nothing will happen, so move on to a place where you can get some sleep. In the corner there is a diary – pick it up and go to sleep. In order to do that press (A) on the cloth lying on the floor.

Castle Fairfax

You will be woken up in the night by guards who want to take you to Castle Fairfax. Run to the guards standing on the nearby square and accept the journey. After you get inside, follow the butler. After a small talk with Lord Lucien you will be asked to stand in a magical circle. That ends the childhood part of the game.

comments and responses

Any choice made in Childhood will either have a positive or negative impact on the future of Bowerstone. So you must choose carefully whether you want Bowerstone to be a shithole, or a wealthier town. Hint: A wealthier Bowerstone will earn you much more money in real estate.
