Irithyll of the Boreal Valley Dark Souls III Guide

After defeating the High Lord Wolnir a door will open at the top of the stairs in the area where you fought him. Walk through the door in order to enter the location. Just after entering you will find the first bonfire.

Note: Lighting the bonfire will unlock the possibility to send Greirat for another search. Speak with him in the Firelink Shrine and agree on the journey. Greirat might not return from it. There are two options available to save him:

1. If you haven't bought Siegward armor from Unbreakable Patches, tell him where did Greirat go. He will save him, but only if you haven't fought Pontiff Sulyvahn yet.

2. If you helped Siegward in the well in the Cathedral of the Deep by giving him his armor then he should save Greirat if you first meet him in the sewers.

Once you manage to save Greirat, he will return after the battle with Pontiff Sulyvahn and tell you that he was saved by an onion knight. Otherwise you will find his body in the sewers.

Despite the difficulty of defeating the opponent, it is better to do it now since the limited movements available under the bridge will make it even harder.

Once you enter the bridge, quickly turn around. You will be attacked by an unpleasant opponent. Watch out so that you aren't caught by him in his mouth and try to keep constantly running around the opponent so that you're behind him. The beast likes to perform two fast bites, a successful dodge after the second hit will allow you to perform your own attack. You must also watch out for the lightning attack. By attacking the enemy from behind you will have the greatest chance for defeating him - the tail attacks are rare and after the enemy turns around you can quickly run to his back again.

For winning the battle you will receive Pontiff's Right Eye. Walk to the end of the bridge while collecting the Homeward Bone on your way. If you have defeated the Deacons of the Deep you will be able to walk through the barrier, straight to the bonfire. Otherwise return to the boss in the Cathedral of the Deep.

Note: You can escape from the beast by running around it and walking through the barrier. However, if you don't defeat the creature, you can be sure you will face it again in the lower part of the location, when you will walk under the same bridge.

Note: After defeating the beast and resting at the bonfire behind the barrier you can return to the bridge, towards the place with a note. If you followed Sirris quest you will find a call for help here (screen).

When Sirris is busy fighting you can attack the back of the enemy.

After using Sirris sign you will be moved to her world, to the same bridge. You must help her in the battle against Creighton the Wanderer. The fight isn't hard, together you have much better chances. Start with attacking the opponent and luring him from Sirris. Hit enemy's back and hide behind a shield or perform a dodge when Creighton will swing his axe at you. After winning the battle you can return to the bridge. Go to the Firelink Shrine where you will find Sirris again. For the help you will receive the Blessed Mail Breaker and the Silvercat Ring.

The barrier can be defeated only after obtaining the small doll (winning with the boss Deacons of the Deep).

Once you return to your world, at the second bonfire, near the large fountain, you will find few interesting items - Rime-Blue Moss Clumb, Soul of a Weary Warrior and Large Soul of a Nameless Warrior. Go upstairs through the only available path after collecting the items.

All fire-related effects will be effective when fighting these opponents.

Lure the cold knights one after another on your way. Watch out for their triple combo which will allow you to counterattack at their backs if you manage to avoid the last hit. On your path you will face three opponents. On the left side there is a gate as well, but you will access the place behind it from the other side. From the bodies on your way you can collect Soul of a Weary Warrior and slightly further, on the right side, a Large Titanite Shard.

Note: The enemies are vulnerable to fire. Many other encountered in this location will be as well. Having pyromancy or weapon with fire damage will make the battles easier.

The road up is heavily guarded - fight with as little enemies simultaneously as possible.

On the next court you will find two enemies standing around a fountain. Walk the fountain around in order to find a Budding Green Blossom and a Large Soul of a Nameless Soldier. The path that leads above is well guarded. It would be risky to run around since two opponents can cast a fireball appearing in the place where your character is standing. Because of that you must frequently change your position and keep moving so that you avoid the attack.

First focus on luring one after another the three weaker opponents. Then deal with the single larger one. Only after that you should run upstairs and lure down new batch of enemies in order to get out of the reach of a wizard standing on the balcony on the right side. Once the area is clear you can enter the mentioned balcony and deal with the enemy. Nearby you will find a Large Titanite Shard.

By going further you will encounter two ice knights patrolling the area. If you cleared the territory below, you can lure them there one after another and defeat them easier. Remember about the triple combo (avoiding the third attack gives you great chance for a counterstrike) and about the fire vulnerability. On the left side, on a balcony you will find a lizard - after killing it you will receive Twinkling Titanite.

Note: In this place you can reveal something more than just illusory wall - illusory stairs. In order to do it hit the second barrier (shown on the picture). Then walk down and defeat an ice knight. Here you will find a Large Titanite Shard.

Calmly walk towards the turned opponent so that you can attack him from the back.

By walking even deeper you will reach an area with an evangelist with his back turned on you. Use that opportunity to open the game, then silently walk towards the enemy and attack him from behind. Watch out during the battle as the opponent has attacks that are slightly stronger than usually (watch out especially when he starts "reading a book". Just after that he will complete preparing a spell that will catch you in fire clutches). After defeating the opponent you will receive Dorhys' Gnawing and at the tree you will find Witchtree Branch.

Now go back to the main road. Slightly further you will reach a large gate shown on the screen. On the left side you can collect Large Soul of an Unknown Traveler and from behind the wall on the right you can take a Large Titanite Shard. From here you can turn left, inside the church, or go ahead through the gate.

Enemies will move after they see you.

Before the entrance you can notice enemies that are far away. If you enter inside you can be sure that another opponent will attack you from the left side. Because of that it is best to wait a bit for the three enemies standing near the altar to walk down and start patrolling the path downstairs. This will allow you to lure them or even completely bypass them.

By walking from the side you can wait for the three opponents standing at the altar to walk down.

A similar situation can be encountered when entering the cathedral from the side, before the Church of Yorshka. You can wait for the three opponents to leave the place. Then all you need to do is get rid (one after another) of a mage and an ice knight. Then you can collect the Soul of a Weary Warrior from below and Lightning Gem.

Finally position yourself in the place shown on the screen. The wall ahead of you is an illusory wall. Destroying it will reveal entrance to a balcony from which you can take Magic Clutch Ring.

The gate in the upper part of the cathedral is still locked, so enter the nearby church in which you will find a bonfire.
