Wingman Mode in CS: GO CS GO Guide and Tips

Last update: 19 June 2017

The rules of this mode are very simple - Wingman Mode in CS: GO - New modes - CS GO Game Guide

The rules of this mode are very simple. The teams consist of 2 players and the game lasts for a maximum of 16 rounds including the change of sides. The Wingman mode imposes close cooperation because in the course of the game you can only count on your wingman - good communication is the key to success. Maps are small and have only one place to place the bomb. Due to the limited field of movement, the gameplay is very dynamic and provides a lot of emotion. Below you will find a handful of tips that can come in handy during the game.

General advice:

  • The communication is the key to craft a relation with your partner.
  • If you don't have a microphone, use the in-game commands and the chat.
  • Players often prepare ambushes in this mode, so you might want to take things easy using shift (make less noise).
  • If you only can - use headphones. This will allow you to notice even the tiniest sound compromising the enemies' position.
  • Moving in a pair allows you to cover your six. There are a slew of spots to surprise the enemy.
  • Avoid open spaces. If your enemy has a sniper that's exactly what they're waiting for.
  • Before entering a dark room, try to make sure there's nobody inside. The enemies often hide in dark corners.
  • If you kill a guy who has a better gun - take it. Spend your money elsewhere if that happens.
  • If you don't currently have any partner that could join you in online games, try searching on the Steam forums: "http://steamcommunity.com/app/730/discussions/0/1291817208481931378/?ctp=1"
  • Before getting into open, you might want to use a flash-bang or smoke grenade.
  • Always take a formation that lets you cover the greatest part of the map.
  • Don't shoot while walking/jumping. Moving greatly decreases accuracy.
  • When reloading, hide if possible. Reloading your gun out in the open is not the brightest idea as you risk getting shot like a duck.
  • Remember that you can throw grenades on different distances: LMB - far, RMB - close, LMB + RMB - medium.
  • Remember about Friendly Fire (FF)! Identify hostile targets first, shoot second. Killing your mate is another poor idea - it can affect the whole game.
  • Before tossing a flash-bang, smokescreen or frag grenade, first make sure you won't hurt your mate. Blinding him will sure not bring you any closer to victory.
  • If you have more cash than your teammate, buy them a gun and drop it on the ground so that they can pick it up. You both need good guns to work well as a team.
  • Pay some money for better armor. This will increase your survival rate.
  • If playing as anti-terrorist, make sure at least one team member has a set for disarming bombs.
  • If your teammate had the disarming set and they were killed, you need to try to retrieve the tools.
  • If your enemies planted the bomb and weren't killed, use a very simple trick: approach the bomb, start disarming for a second but immediately stop. The enemies, upon hearing the sound of the bomb being disarmed will sure come out - if you're prepared it's a perfect chance for doing them in.
  • Use the warm-up round to show off. Packing a couple headshots before the game will sure make you and your mate more confident.
  • Even after loosing a couple rounds remember that the whole match can take as long as 16 rounds with side swap.
  • Staying calm is essential. Try not to get excited too much by anything - a hot head only makes things worse. Remember this especially in the final rounds.
