Each perk requires a number of slots (1 to 5) to accommodate it. By default, there are 8 slots available for perks. You can increase their number by disposing of the equipment that you do not want - if you get rid of the secondary weapon (pistol) from your equipment, this will give you 2 additional slots. In the case of grenades or tactical equipment, you increase the amount of available slots by 1.
The perks available in the multiplayer mode, are divided into 7 groups: speed, handling, stealth, awareness, resistance, equipment, elite.
Speed

Awareness

Resistance

 | Focus | Reduces weapon sway while in the aiming mode and reduces sway while taking damage. | 30 level 2 slots |
 | Tac Resist | Resistance to flash grenades, concussion grenades and the EMP. | 44 level 2 slots |
 | Blast Shield | Increased resistance to explosions. | 58 level 2 slots |
Equipment

Elite

 | Gambler | You start with a random perk. | 7 level 1 slot |
 | Hardline | Rewards for numbers of kills require one less kill to be awarded. For each 2 assistance instances, you receive a kill to your kill counter. | 20 level 1 slot |
 | Ping | After you kill an enemy, you detect the nearby enemies. | 34 level 2 slots |
 | Overkill | You can carry two primary weapons. | 48 level 3 slots |
 | Deadeye | Streaks of kills increase damage dealt by you. . | 60 level 3 slots |
Hints
The selection of perks is, as a matter of fact, a matter of one's own preferences. You cannot say that some are best and some are useless. When it comes to novices, one of the below combinations may be useful.
The first one (if you prefer stealth) :
- Sleight of Hand (2 slots)
- Off the Grid (3 slots)
- Wiretap (3 slots)
The second one (if you prefer direct exchange of fire) :
- Ready Up (1 slot)
- Sleight of Hand (2 slots)
- Marathon (2 slots)
- Quickdraw (3 slots)
