Billy Candle | Helpful hints Call of Juarez Guide

Last update: 11 May 2016

Staying in the shadows. When you're playing as Billy, you will be staying in the shadows for the most of the time. Sadly, most of the missions will require you to remain hidden. In most cases, revealing your position would be equal to an instant failure, because of the alarm that would be raised. The same goes with leaving any bodies behind. Thankfully, "Call of Juarez" isn't as complicated as most of the stealth games. As a result, you won't be eliminating your opponents during stealth missions. The most important thing would be to remain unseen. As you've probably suspected, you will have to spend a lot of time observing movements of the enemy units. You won't be able to activate their range of view, so you will have to be very careful. Make sure that you're not moving too fast. You should also be leaning out a lot in order to check your surroundings. Bear in mind, however, that you won't be able to stay in the open for too long, because this would reveal your current position. The next important thing will involve your enemies. Most of them are using programmed routes, so you won't have any problems with that, because you'll know exactly where they will go next. Furthermore, most of the bandits will make longer stops along the way. This will allow you to sneak past them in order to be able to reach a new section of the map. You will also have to remember about a few other things. Like I've said before, I wouldn't recommend killing any of the bandits, unless this is necessary to reach a new location. You should also be looking at your HUD. One of the options will tell you exactly how stealth you are. "Call of Juarez" is very forgiving for the most of the time, so you will be able to perform more dangerous manoeuvres. Bushes are the last important thing I wanted to tell you about. You will be able to use them to your advantage during most of the stealth missions. They provide a full cover, even if it's a day mission. As a result, you will have to be on a look out for these types of objects. I guess I don't have to remind you that you should also be using crates and larger barrels for cover. Also, make sure that you're crouching all the time, however most of the bandits won't respond to your footsteps. The same goes with most of the other sounds.

Useful equipment. Your whip is by far the most useful item of the entire game. I'm sure that you'll be using it all the time when playing as Billy. First of all, your whip can be used to avoid different types of obstacles. In most cases, you wouldn't be able to solve this puzzles in any other way. This item can also be used during some of the fights, however you'd have to surprise your enemy in order to perform a successful action. Also, you would have to kill him with a single hit, so make sure that you aim at the neck area. You can't make any mistakes here or you could end up dead. As for the rest of the weapons, bow also seems like a good idea. Sadly, you will be using in only two missions of the campaign mode. You will also have an opportunity to use some of the guns, however most of Billy's missions will force you to remain unseen, instead of fighting your enemies in open battles. I would recommend that you choose some of the better shotguns or rifles if you must to kill some of the nearby bandits.
