Chapter 2 - The One That Got Away | Walkthrough Batman: The Telltale Series Guide

Last update: 26 September 2016

Unlike the first chapter, here our actions focus mainly on choosing dialogue options. During the course of this chapter, we meet several familiar characters, who can influence the further course of the game.

2.1 Harvey Dent

Once you enter the living room, we watch a short speech by Harvey - Chapter 2 - The One That Got Away | Walkthrough - Episode 1: Realm of Shadows - Batman: The Telltale Games Series Game Guide

Once you enter the living room, we watch a short speech by Harvey. He quickly notices our presence, and focuses everybody's attention on the player.

Dialogue options:

"Hi, Bruce"

Welcome to Wayne Manor!

Enjoy my wine - it's expensive.

...

Regardless of the dialogue option you choose, Harvey finishes his speech, and approaches you. He criticizes you for not showing up earlier, and that he had to take your place as the party host.

Dialogue options:

Doing something important.

Working the night shift.

I like to make an entrance.

...

Regardless of the chosen option, Harvey will begin to explain to you how important this party and your role in the ongoing elections are to him.

Dialogue options:

I'm doing this for Gotham.

I hate being someone I'm not.

[Finish the drink]

...

Similarly to the previous situations, your statements do not have a major impact on the further course of the story. You can choose any option, or stay silent. Finally, Harvey will ask you about a new slogan, which can be used on his posters.

Dialogue options:

"A new face of Gotham."

"Our hope is in Harvey."

"Put a Dent in crime."

...

Interestingly, if you choose the "A new face of Gotham", you can find it on the election posters in the third chapter. The remaining answers do not matter. Once you end the conversation, you will approach Bob and Regina Zellerbach. Conversations beginning at this point may have long-term consequences.

2.2 Zellerbach

Depending on your answers, you can get them to support Harvey, or express your grief over the loss of your parents. At the beginning of the conversation, they imply that your support for him is very important to them, and if you believe in him, they intend to put their trust in your family.

Dialogue options:

My name doesn't matter.

No reaction.

Tonight its about Harvey.

Harvey will remember that.

We can all make a difference.

Everyone will remember that.

...

If you decide on one of the highlighted answers, you can improve your relations with Harvey, or imply to everyone that your choices are not vital for the future of Gotham. Regardless of your answer, Bob Zellerbach will begin to comment on the situation of Batman and Gotham, implying that he doesn't believe that one man can save the city.

Dialogue options:

Depends on the man.

They will remember that.

Harvey Dent can.

They will remember that.

Hope can light the darkness.

They will remember that.

...

Regardless of the chosen answers, all of them will be remembered by the conversation participants - Chapter 2 - The One That Got Away | Walkthrough - Episode 1: Realm of Shadows - Batman: The Telltale Games Series Game Guide

Regardless of the chosen answers, all of them will be remembered by the conversation participants. After a moment, Regina Zellerbach will refer to the death of Bruce's parents.

Dialogue options:

That was a long time ago.

No reaction.

Thanks for your sympathy.

No reaction.

We're here for Harvey, not me.

Harvey will remember that.

...

If you decide to choose the highlighted answer, you can improve your relations with Dent. The remaining answers do not hold any significance for the story. The important thing is that if you don't lead the conversation so as to bring attention to Harvey, you don't have to worry that he will develop a negative attitude towards you.

2.3 Vicki Vale

Once you're done talking with the Zellerbachs, a young woman, who is very interested in Bruce, approaches you. After a short conversation, you need to decide if you allow her to stay at the party. Since she is a journalist, Harvey will insist on her leaving the residence.

Dialogue options:

1. You can stay, Ms. Vale

2. I do mind, actually.

3. Keep this off the record.

4. ...

In this case, the answers have been numbered. None of them will have any significance for the story, but if you choose either 1 or 3, an additional dialogue line will appear. This means that you allow Vicki Vale to ask personal questions, so she quickly asks you about your mood at your own party.

Dialogue options:

Politics bore me.

Everyone loves the host.

Better, now that you're here.

Vicki will remember that.

...

If you allowed her to stay, in this part of the conversation you can improve your relations. This can happen only through the highlighted answer in the above table. The remaining answers are neutral and do not have any influence on the story.

Regardless of whether you allowed her for a personal question, or avoided the previous set of dialogues, Vicki Vale will notice a stain on your collar - Chapter 2 - The One That Got Away | Walkthrough - Episode 1: Realm of Shadows - Batman: The Telltale Games Series Game Guide

Regardless of whether you allowed her for a personal question, or avoided the previous set of dialogues, Vicki Vale will notice a stain on your collar. Additionally, she will quickly realize that this could be blood.

Dialogue options:

Cut myself shaving.

It's just vine.

Maybe it's lipstick?

...

Choose any answer you want, because the way you handle the situation bears no meaning.

The conversation will be interrupted by Alfred, who will inform you of a guest who can interest you a lot. It turns out that Carmine Falcone has arrived to the party.

2.4 Carmine Falcone

Before you talk to the famous businessman, Harvey will take you to the side, and suggest that Falcone's support can have a beneficial effect on the results of the upcoming elections.

Dialogue options:

I'm trusting you, Harvey.

I don't want him here.

This doesn't look good.

...

Regardless of the chosen answer, Harvey will ask you to at least act neutral if you don't intend to do business with Falcone.

After a short conversation, you approach the unexpected guest, who obviously feels at home here. He even suggests that he would think about buying your house.

Dialogue options:

Let's talk privately.

I'd never sell to you.

You can't afford it.

...

Regardless of your answer, Falcone won't pay attention to your answer and will reach out his hand wanting you to shake it.

[Shake his hand]

Everyone will remember that.

[Refuse]

Falcone will remember that.

After the action, Alfred will approach you, and suggest that further conversation should be conducted without the interference of bystanders. You quickly agree to his suggestion, and move to the guest room.

It quickly turns out that Falcone wants to talk to you in private, but Harvey insists to be present during the conversation.

[IMPORTANT CHOICE]

Harvey comes with me.

Harvey will remember that.

I'll talk with Falcone alone.

Harvey will remember that.

Whether Harvey will be present during your conversation with Falcone can have a huge influence on the further course of the action. In the chapter dedicated to choices, you will learn the possible consequences resulting from the chosen option.

Falcone will start to comment on Harvey's actions regardless of whether he is present or not.

Dialogue options:

I say u can do both.

I understand completely.

Harvey will make Gotham better.

Harvey will remember this (if he is inside).

...

Leaving the subject of politics, Falcone wants to talk about your mutual relations. Before it happens, he attempts to provoke you. He takes a pool cue, and throws you the chalk, suggesting that you have an opportunity to show your good will.

[Leave it on the table]

Falcone will change his attitude.

[Chalk this pool cue]

Falcone will change his attitude.

[Toss him the chalk]

Falcone will change his attitude.

Regardless of your actions, Falcone will continue to talk. Further on, he will want you to express your attitude towards him.

Dialogue options - Chapter 2 - The One That Got Away | Walkthrough - Episode 1: Realm of Shadows - Batman: The Telltale Games Series Game Guide

Dialogue options:

You and I aren't friends.

I get along with everyone.

I'm just doing this for Harvey.

...

Regardless of your answers, Falcone will begin to get angry, and start to threaten you openly. At some point, he will hint that Bruce's father had something to do with Gotham's mafia.

Dialogue options:

Whatever you say.

Falcone will remember that.

You should go.

Falcone will remember that.

Don't talk about my father.

Falcone will remember that.

...

The further conversation is interrupted by the arrival of Alfred, who announces that the guests are leaving, so you should say goodbye to them. Falcone also leaves, offending you constantly. After a short scene, you will move to the Batcave.

It turns out that the data on the disc is locked. In the meantime, you are joined by Alfred, who is embittered that you don't use the perks of the mansion.

Dialogue options:

I'm working.

Those rooms don't matter.

I like this cave.

...

It appears that despite the disc being locked, some of the information can be retrieved. Bruce transfers the data from the disc to the hologram, and a map appears. One of the Gotham's districts is marked, and your task is to press A or D buttons to rotate the map, so that the marked district is in front of Bruce.

Then, Alfred refers to the argument between you and Carmine Falcone.

Dialogue options:

It was under control.

Thanks for your help.

I won't play his game.

...

The further part of the conversation is dedicated to Catwoman. Alfred says that compared to Bruce, she manages not to attract great interest of the media.

Dialogue options:

Batman doesn't hide.

Don't compare me to her.

I'll stay out of sight.

...

Regardless of your answer, Alfred tries to make you realize that you attract to much attention, which can easily translate into the fact that somebody will connect the dots and finds out that it is you who hides behind the black mask.

Dialogue options:

This city needs me.

Alfred will remember that.

I've got it covered.

Alfred will remember that.

You're right, Alfred.

Alfred will remember that.

I'll give him a chance.

...

After a short conversation, you will see the location of the further part of the story, and you will begin another chapter.
