ARK: Creatures for traveling - most useful ARK Survival Evolved guide, tips

In this chapter you will find information about most useful dinosaurs used to move around the area, with a short description, information about their locations and tables representing the taming process.
Sabertooth
A very quick and aggressive creature, a danger for beginner players. The best way to deal with it is to go to the high ground where it won't be able to reach you. One of the fastest creatures moving in terrain and a very good resource collector.

Taming Sabertooth
When selecting a creature for and finally taming it you must make sure that the one you're interested in is alone - those creatures tend to walk in pairs or in groups. It's very fast - escaping from it is not an option. The best method is to attack it from afar while standing on an elevation.

To craft one piece of kibble you will need: Bronto Egg, Rockarrot, Cooked Meat Jerky, x2 Majoberry, x3 Fiber and Water.
After taming it you will need a saddle, unlocked once you reach level 45. To create the saddle you will need: 290 Hide, 155 Fiber, 20 metal ingot.
Sabertooth can collect items from killed creatures: Chitin, Keratin, Hide, Pelt, Leech Blood, Raw Prime Meat, Raw Meat, Oil, Silica Pearls. The creature will mainly collect Hide and Meat.
Megalodon
Megalodon is one of the best creatures when it comes to moving around in the water. It's a very dangerous creature for inexperienced players. It's aggressive and likes to keep its distance to lure you out into the deep waters, but sometimes you can stumble upon it near the shore as well.

Taming Megalodon
Taming Megalodon is not an easy task, as the creature lives in water. The most common approach is to use a crossbow with tranquillizer arrows. However, this method has a serious flaw - without the diving suit, a high-end armor, you won't be able to stay under water for very long. Additionally, you must protect your newly acquired companion, as there are numerous threats lurking in the deeps.
Another method is to either build a platform on the water or swim inside of a raft and taming the creature from it.
The best solution to this problem is to acquire another fish, place it near the shore and lure the Megalodons there. This will allow you to stun the Megalodon while on the beach.

To craft one piece of kibble you will need: Spino Egg, Savoroot, Prime Meat Jerky, x2 Majoberry, x3 Fiber and Water.
After taming it you will need the saddle, unlocked once you reach level 45. To create the saddle you will need: 290 Hide, 155 Fiber and 30 cementing paste.
Megalodon can acquire the following items from killed creatures: Raw Meat, Angler Gel, Chitin, Raw Prime Meat and Black Pearl.
Pteradon
It's one of the creatures that can be tamed in order to move through the skies. It can carry other players, as well as small creatures, such as Dodo. It's not an aggressive creature - it flies off automatically once provoked.
Characteristic:
- You can mount it
- A pair can hatch a Pachy egg
- It becomes aggressive only when you attack it
- Herbivore
Killing it gives you:
- Keratin
- Hide
- Raw Meat

Taming Pteradon
You must remember that once you attack a Pteradon it will automatically take off into the sky. The most important thing when taming it is to quickly attack its head numerous times to prevent it from running away. Electric Pod can stun a 120 level Pteradon with a single strike, but this is a late-game weapon.
Additionally, you must make sure that the bird won't get stunned when above the water - it will simply fall into it and die.

To create one piece of kibble you will need: Dodo Egg, Rockarrot, Cooked Meat, x2 Majoberry, x3 Fiber and Water.
After taming it you will need a saddle, unlocked once you reach level 35. To create a saddle you will need: 230 Hide, 125 Fiber, 75 Chitin or Keratin.
Pteradon can collect the following resources: Raw Meat, Hide, Organic Polymer, Chitin, Keratin, Raw Prime Meat.
Gallimimus
A creature made to transport humans. It can move with up to three people on its back when a saddle is installed there. Galliminuses are extremely fast, making them a hard foe to stun.
Characteristic:
- Up to three people can mount it at the same time
- A pair of them can hatch a Gallimimus Egg
- Herbivore
- It's not aggressive - it flees once attacked.
Killing it gives you:
- Hide
- Raw Meat

Taming Galimimus
While planning to tame this creature you must remember about its charge. Start by aiming at the body of the dinosaur and then at its head - this will allow you to create more torpor. This dinosaur doesn't have a lot of health points - it's not the most difficult foe you'll face.

After taming it you will need a saddle, unlocked once you reach level 30. To create the saddle you will need: 240 Hide, 160 Fiber, 120 wood and 25 metal ingot.
Argentavis
Slower than a Pteradon but with a higher carrying capacity. It's a very territorial creature - it will attack you automatically once you step into its zone. You can easily lure the creature to a corpse.

- Carnivorous
- Aggressive - it will attack you once you cross into its territory
- It has a high carrying capacity
- You can mount it
Killing it gives you:
- Argentavis Talon - one of the four artifacts required to call in a boss
- Raw Meat
- Raw Prime Meat

Taming Argentavis
The creature is not very fast, which is why you should aim at its head - this will deal more damage to it. A good method is to lure it near your base to stun it there.
