Assassin's Creed: Unity in a nutshell

AC Unity is another installment of the action series developed by Ubisoft that focuses on the conflict between the Assassins and the Templars. The game is set in Paris during French revolution. You play as Arno - the man tries to uncover the Templars conspiracy.

The game has received many improvements regarding the previous games. The developers have decided to change the climbing system, add the ability to crouch, and made fights more challenging. Also, they have increased the realism. Players have more freedom in how they want to approach a mission. Failure doesn't necessary mean that players will have to replay the mission from the beginning.

General Tips

Just like in every other game, AC Unity has a few basic rules that you should follow. Below, you can find a few tips that will help you survive on the streets of Paris.

  • Pay attention to the screen and the map - All mission objectives, additional activities, and enemies are marked on both the screen and the map. If you don't know what to do or you got lost, simply look around or check the map.
  • Synchronize all synchronization points - They reveal some of the secrets and gives you access to fast travel points.
  • Explore the city - Chests, Cockades, and other side activities will be added to the map when you get close to them. The game will also highlight them.
  • Spend Creed points - Use them to upgrade your equipment. You get some many of them that there is no point in keeping these points. The only exception is the most expensive gear, e.g. the most expensive weapon requires thousands of Creed points. However, by the time you unlock it, you should have enough points for that.
  • Don't act rashly - The majority of the missions allows you to choose your own path to the goal and the order of eliminating enemies. Take advantage of this. Instead of rushing towards the enemies, focus on scouting the area carefully. Find available exits, places that are patrolled by the least number of mercenaries, come up with a plan and then act.
  • Run on the rooftops - There are less riflemen in AC Unity than in the previous games from this series. Also, the majority of the enemies isn't able to climb the rooftops - they will lose interest in you. Therefore, the best way to escape is to climb rooftops. Also, rooftops give you the opportunity to perform stealth assassinations. You can't assassinate an enemy that is aware of your presence. However, you have to be careful - enemies can reach rooftops by climbing ladders or chests. If they can't get close to you, they will start shooting. Rooftops are a good place for every Assassin, but you should use them wisely.
  • Try another mission if the game is too difficult for you - The game will inform you when a mission is too difficult for your character. You can still try to complete it. However, if you don't feel like you are able to do that, look for other missions.
  • Play as you like - Except a few specific situations, the game in overall is very forgiving. Almost every building has a few exits and the majority of the missions can be completed in multiple ways. You can play slowly and carefully or quickly and aggressively. Choose the playstyle that suits you the most.
